The new IEM of Vsonic VSD 3S ( impression updated by smailbz)

Oh yeah, they used a modified version of the mmcx, which was why people had cable replacement issues... But yeah, kind of wish I had an IEM that I could use an an excuse to play with that cable. Maybe see if it's possible to find a place to modify an IE800 to use that connection.

Yeah, for some stupid reason (IMO), VSonic decided to try to make their own version of the MMCX connector. There's no point to spending extra effort on making a special MMCX connector as far as I'm concerned. To me, it takes away the exact appeal of buying an IEM with a detachable cable.

Still no posts about how the "re-tuned" new 2016 version of the VSD3s sounds compared to earlier versions?

It was mentioned in this thread. Have to search for it.

Don't think anyone who owns both old and new has posted their evaluation yet.

All we've seen is Vsonic's proclaimation that "The new VSD3S is more forward sounding and has a better soundstage then the older VSD3S."

I've read it somewhere on Head-Fi, it was brief but there is one.

I think bob meant the old and new. I am referring to old vsd3 vs vsd3s. After burn in the vsd3 is more analytical and the vsd3s its more musical. I really wouldn't want a new model that was even more mid centric.

You are correct (old versus new VSD3s).  And I too wouldn't embrace a signature that imparts too much emphasis in places I don't enjoy.

How can you tell if you are getting the new or old version? I am looking at these on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O1V0JFU and there is almost no information given on them.

The new ones have a 90 degree TRS strereo minijack and are proclaimed as the 2016 model.  LMYE and Penon are reliable sources.  I know LMYE and I think Penon (aka bigbargainonline) has listings on Amazon.

Well he has both. Have him post his thoughts if he is willing to.

I see you have both the VSD3S and the Havi B3 Pro 1. Which one would you recommend?
I have both and the havi is light years better but you need to amp it
