The New Enleum AMP-23R Amplifier (Successor to Bakoon AMP-13R) Thread
Feb 19, 2023 at 2:31 AM Post #1,321 of 1,892
Finally got to hookup my new 23r tonight, running into an odd behavior though. When I turn the volume/gain knob I get pops out of my Klipsch Forte IV. Any tips about what might be happening? The pops get louder as you turn it up.

EDIT: I tested and it does it with headphones as well. I tried hooking no sources up to the amp, same issues. Tried unplugging some wall wart stuff from the power strip, no changes. Am I missing something?

That’s how the volume control works. You’ll have the volume steps in the transducer. Hopefully not too loud, though.

I guess I had kind of glossed over this issue when reading reviews. Just kind of caught me off guard as they are much more frequent/loud/significant than I expected based on folks talking about the occasional pop/crackle. I guess good I plan on using a preamp ahead of it.

EDIT: after some time enjoying the amp, in actual use case this pop during gain changes with speakers/headphones is not an issue so I am not surprised folks don't comment on it much. When doing minor volume adjustments during actual listening they seldom pop up. More just something you notice during major volume adjustments/changes.

Your speakers are 99dB sensitive, so these relay clicks and pops will be more audible on these than on less efficient speakers. Hope this helps, hanks!

Hi guys/girls
I have my eye on the Enleum.
Has anyone ditched/sold both a good headphone amp AND speaker amp in favor of the Enleum?
Heaphone amp: Flux Volot
Speaker Amp: Yamaha AS 2200
Speakers: Klipsch RF7 iii (100 db)

Looking forward to your answers.
Cheers.

I switched to 23r after using Volot and Susvara.

The volot was also a great match, but I could hear the true susvara at 23r.

The feeling of breaking through the bass bottom of the susvara

Considering your speakers and Susvara cans, just one product that does great with both seems a justified route to take. Hope this helps, thanks!

My review for the 23R is up!

Also measurements available here if interested: https://goldensound.audio/2022/07/12/enleum-amp-23r-measurements/

Very nice review and it matches what I felt when I used it and what I liked about it.
It's like having a tube amp sound but without the troubles of actual tubes.
Funny enough but as a compliment to another solid state amp, instead of doing that with a tube amp, this is probably a good choice. An expensive one that's for sure.

Is there any disadvantage in going with the do-it-all Enleum (4.5kg) for speakers & headphones vs seperate speaker amp + headphone amp (combined at 40+kg)?
Am i missing something? How can this be? Is this the next evolution in hi-fi?
Hopefully tomorrow i'll be getting one for weekend trial so i'll probably be able to answer myself :)

There certainly is if your speakers aren't very efficient. Furthermore, for the price of the Enleum, you can get a great speaker amp and a great headphone amp. Separate amps will certainly have a larger footprint, but needn't weigh anywhere close to 40 kg in total. OTOH, if you have efficient speakers and love the particular sound of the Enleum, it may well be your preferred option.
