The New $780 Rein Audio X-DAC (Review Coming Soon)

Wow, do I feel stupid. The problem with my DAC was the input in the back and the selection on the front panel were crossed...meaning the coax 1 in the back was coax 2 on the front and vice versa. Rein helped me diagnose the problem....I'm glad they figured it out before I sent it back.

WASAPI, ASIO, et. al. are drivers to support USB or Firewire audio devices, for Coax you wouldn't need those.

First, those are not drivers. Yes, you might need specific drivers to use them, but they are not drivers, they are methods of streaming audio.
Second, they are actually much better than DirectSound in terms of SQ because they bypass Windows kernel audio mixer.
Third, in Coax's case it's just as much important as when you're dealing with USB and Firewire.

New review of the x-dac. If they find the x-dac smooth and warm, they should come listen to my main dac :D

New review of the x-dac.

He claims that 88.2kHz works over USB, but this DAC uses TE7022L AFAIK so it was being resampled by his computer: http://cdn.head-fi.org/3/34/34485883_xdacinner1.jpeg

I am gonna try to bring back some life to this thread, looking for a DAC for my LCD-2,Violectric V200 combo and have narrowed it down to the Rein X-DAC or the V800.I am liking the $680 price tag on the Rein much better than the $1300 V800,so right now I am leaning towards the Rein. Are the X-DAC users satisfied with there purchase?

I traded it in for the X3. It's a level up although the X DAC + V200 was really good but more on the analytical than musical side. You won't be disappointed at all.
