C'mon, nobody likes both the HD600 and the HD650 for looks or anything else, make a choice dammit!

I may have already posted in this thread, but oh well.

I like the functional, utilitarian, professional, industrial sorts of designs that look like advanced tools.  These are my favorites:

Grado HP1000
Audeze LCD-2
vintage Fostex T20v1
Smeggy Thunderpants (an amazing blend of industrial dual metal rods, and the boutique wooden cups)
ksc-35
AKG K141 silver

Wow, just realized this- that's what the HD800 makes me think of.  They have a very similar silver rectangle above the cups which I feel is a design flaw on both headhones.

Hey, you're right. I never caught that before. The general overall shape is similar, too. I guess when everything under the sun has already been done, it's difficult not to tread the same ground somewhere.

Interesting to see what people find "beautiful". To me, for example T1 might look cool, but it´s by no means anything I´d call beautiful. Well, I´m just a sucker for wood and other traditionally luxurious stuff. Not for hi-tech Sennheiser plastic.

That faux-marble finish looks hideous in pictures. I can only hope the genuine article looks much better in person.

It's a lot more intense in all the pictures, it's fairly subtle in person.  Although I still have no idea what they were thinking.  It's worse than frosted rear tail lights on a car.  I imagine the Q701 will age in a similar way...

Yeah that's what I mean, the rectangle attached to circle shape.  But I doubt Sennheiser had the porta pro in mind when they designed the phones.  I just think that in the hd800, the rectangular part should be black so that it becomes part of the headband, and so that the beautiful elvin ear shape of the cups can be appreciated on their own.  Or maybe if that rectangle just wasn't there at all.  Just cups and headband, like most phones but with the elvish twist..

Uhhhh......no it doesn't! I have the HD-600s and it's about as nasty as you can imagine.  However, I can't exactly see them while I'm wearing them....and the sound, oh the sound, more than makes up for it!

Carbon fiber, gotta love it. I prefer the HD600 to the HD650 for both aesthetics and sound, and the fact that there is no paint to scratch.
