I didn't know there were 9927's with metal jack coverings.  Mine from early September was rubber.
 
Also, I've got to ask, why would you buy the black 9927 IEMs over the white 9963 IEMs?

Well I bought them around 4 mount ago, 9927's was with metal jack just like on website picture ads, now I got it with all rubber jack..and  I noticed stronger sub and midbass. are there different treatments or just quality variance?... did white 9963 also came with rubber jack now?

Again, the white 9963 IEMs had metal jacks at one point?  The pair I have use rubber just like the 9927 IEMs.

Err, I think you misunderstood what I was saying.  I'm questioning because both the 9927 and 9963 IEMs that I own (about 2 months old) had rubber jacks and I had no idea if either had metal jacks at one point.

Sorry, forgot to refresh the page I miss your post and double posting. according to website pictures ads all color came with metal jack, so was my 9927s pair I bought 4 month ago.

Here's a random discovery - I do believe that the ear canal may "close up" more in colder temperatures and "open up" more in warmer temperatures.
 
I was able to use the stock medium tips from the 9963 IEMs back when I got them two weeks ago but now the medium tips don't seem to go in as far and therefore don't get "locked in-place" and can end up coming out.  I have to use the small tips to get the IEMs to really go "in" now.
 
Unfortunately the small tips are too short for me to get as good of a seal as I got with the medium tips, so some audio sounds a bit flatter... I might have to get some of those Sony hybrids after all.
 
 
For reference, outdoor temperatures were about 10C/50F two weeks ago but now they're about 0C/32F, and I usually keep my listening environment on the cooler side since I myself am not a fan of warmer climates and hotter temperatures in general.
 
 
EDIT: Forget the sizing issues, now I'm having comfort issues.  I wonder if the absence of humidity in colder temps makes the inner-ear drier and therefore more prone to itching and discomfort, because now none of the stock tips nor my no-name white IEM tips last me even 30 minutes without getting some kind of discomfort or itchiness.
 
Two weeks ago before the winter-esque weather the humidity was easily almost always around 100%, but keep in mind that's at around 10c/50f; now with it being 0c/32f having 100% humidity is considerably drier.

Speaking of which, is it just me or do these tips from "LostEarBuds" look darned near the same as the stock 9963 IEM tips?

I know the black silicone tips from the same seller have been previously recommended, but I wanted to get the clear ones to match the white IEMs.  However I'm concerned that said tips on ebay may in fact be the exact same tips as the stock ones.
 
 
*sigh* It'd be nice if I wasn't the only person that owned the 9963 IEMs considering that, other than some no-name white IEM tips and the stock 9927 tips, I own no tips to compare the stock 9963 tips to...  Come on, where are the guys that randomly spend like $200 on some headphones just so they can compare them to another set? 

 
 
 
EDIT: I may have been a bit of a derp.  I just scrubbed and cleaned the medium sized stock 9963 tips and they're already quite a bit more comfortable than they were when I tried them before cleaning.  We'll see if that lasts for more than a few minutes however...
 
 
EDIT 2: It's been about an hour of constant use and no itchiness or discomfort yet...
 
Speaking of which, just how frequently should one clean non-foam tips?  It's been about 2-3 weeks but I don't use them all that much, I use them in bursts usually.  Some days I don't use them at all but others I'll use them for hours.

okay guys sorry for all the delays.  I have finally gotten settled and will be putting together some fully modded 9927's for some select people and me.  My RE 400's dropped 50% of their volume level in the right channel.  I have thouroughly researched what rin is using and hopefully not giving away secret here.  But it looks like it is made from  60% POLYPROPYLENE BONDED TO cELLULOFIBER NONWOVEN LABRATORY GRADE WIPES.  I have 75 9x11" sheets on the way.  That was a small package of them on amazon.  Anyway there is a more expensive version which looks a bit closer to one's actually cut out by rin.  But I believe these are pretty damn close and a lot cheaper.  I can tell you they blow away microfiber which is what I initially was using.  And they have a bit of a tackiness that helps them stay in place unlike the microfiber.  They are actually slightly cushiony with small perforations.  I should have them within a week.  PM me in about 10 days if you want a sheet.  I will cut them in half or so since that is likely all you will ever need.  
 
The first thing you will notice is the the highs, no apparent blocking just smooth and airy, noticeably more open then microfiber with a bit more bass punch and a bit more neutral but just slightly sweet mids.  You won't want microfiber after playing with these.

If we aren't doing whatever your crazy full-on mod is, would said sheet even be useful?

yes the sheet probably creates the biggest difference in the sound.  Modifying the nozzles and doping the drivers adds a touch more extension in the highs and the doping adds a bit more detail by stiffening and damping the driver directly...but the sound is really shaped by the filter.  The microfiber damped resonance and smoothed the sound but ultimately somewhat overdamps the upper mids and highs. This is what I was trying to get to but had to figure out what Rin was actually using by actually having some in my hot little hands.  So I now have some that were actually provided by him through another headfier.  I scoured the internet to find equivalent items and directly texted rin to determine what these are made of. Its up to you if you want some of material or not.  Ultimately I could care less either way.  No stake in this other than sharing what's possible.  Actually I will be out a few bucks in stamps and envelopes makeing these sheets available.   
 
 
Ultimately it's your loss if you don't want to try it.

So uh, I admittedly haven't been keeping up with the hardware mods and stuff other than some basic ones (shaving the fins and the "tape trick"), so I don't really know what the heck you're even doing with said sheet.  Are you replacing the stock wax filter with it or something?

Soundwise, these are great, specially considering the price.. Lots of microphonics when music isn't playing and worn in the front.
 
comfort wise.. not that great, at least for me :|
 
It came with 3 sized silicone tips. The large ones don't even fit my ears, the small ones get lost inside my ears and the medium ones are a tad too big for me specially on my left ear, for some reason >_>
 
any recommended eartips? it may be that i'm too sensitive for IEMs though :|

...I recommend that you should have bought the white 9963 IEMs instead if you wanted stock tips that are possibly more comfortable. >_>

However, apparently triple-flange tips are what sound the best on these Monoprice IEMs, assumingly regardless of comfort.
