The Missing link: iFi Audio Unveils the GO link Max!

Dec 15, 2024 at 10:36 AM Post #76 of 121
I've used the Go Link 3.5mm for a while and loved it. Decided to make the upgrade to the Go Link MAX, purchased from hifi headphones.co uk. Initially I was disappointed with the volume but was advised by Ben at hifi headphones to upgrade the firmware. He kindly saw me through the install process and my Go Link MAX is now superb. Credit to iFi for getting such a top sound from it. I'm using it with the TSMR X, the Penon 10th Anniversary, the Penon Fan 3 and a couple of Buds. Various cables too. Highs have good sparkle, bass is solid, mids definitely iFi house sound mids. The sound from the Go Link MAX is so good to my ears and beats some DAPs I have. 5* out of 5.

Picked up the new MAX. It sounds really great! But - at lower volumes the left channel drops noticeably in volume when streaming on my iPad. I’m unable to update the firmware as I don’t have a PC, darn it!

Guess I’ll open a ticket when the iFi folks are back from their holiday.

Sorry to hear that, hopefully we will have some answers to that soon.

Even if it's possible to borrow one you could just delete everything when finished not a large program.

Sorry for any inconvenience

Cheers!!

I finally managed to borrow a PC, and the new firmware indeed fixed up the MAX nicely! Sounds fabulous!

(Alas, I also tried to update the firmware on my original Go Link, and…. I killed it dead somehow! Sigh.)

Thank you as always, Mr. B. and everyone on the thread.

No problem at all, glad you were able to resolve your issue.

Regarding the second issue of the OG GO Link, I would reach out to support and let them know what had happened, perhaps they are aware of a fix that I am not at the moment.

I'll keep an eye out for your results.

Help
Is there a set-up manual for dummies beginners? I've connected to MB Air & iPhone 16, blue light comes on, no sound comes out of either device. Looking in settings I cannot figure it out. No help searching the web.

Once ^^ fixed will the update automatically start?

Sorry you are having some trouble, at the moment our website is being revamped and should be ready shortly for manuals and the like including firmware downloads.

The GO Link should be fairly plug and play, on your MAC Book look for the speaker "volume" icon up top and see if choosing it as an output is an option. The update itself must be done "for the moment" on a Windows PC

Do you know what firmware version you are currently using?

Cheers!!

To see the version on an Apple computer...

Click the Apple icon in the top left, then About this MAC, More info, System report, you will see screen like this...

Your USB devices are listed along with current "ver" listed in the device category
