Just got them in the mail- an amazing step up from cheap earbuds. Only thing I'm not crazy about is the wires connected to the headphones. They're thin (almost skull candy earbud thin) and I'm worried they'll bend to the point where one side stops working (that's what happened to a good portion of my earbuds, at least).
 
I can't wait to hear these after they burned in. I plan to eventually upgrade to an Amperior or DT1350, but these are a great tie over.

The S500 has thin cords? Mine are fairly chunky, but I don't have many cans to compare.

Thanks to this thread and currently in China for a time, I felt it would be dumb to miss this opportunity to import a pair of the JVC HA-S500 from Japan. I has been awhile since this thread has been started but is $39 USD including shipping a good price for these headphones?
