Are these good for folk and jazz music? Or should I get the DN-2000J instead?
Thanks.

i find the dn-2000j too bassy for my taste. (bass heavy) and it really hits hard.
id go for the fx850. due to the sonics  alone plus the convenience of replaceable cable.
the fx850 sounds fantastic. :)
it feels expensive too than the dunu.

Never in a million years (of burn-in) will the DN-2000J sound bassier than the FX850.

Both are pretty good with folk and jazz imo, though personally, I prefer the JVCs.

Does the FX850 come with the spiral dots tips?

Mine did, here is a pic:

You might need to click on it to see the spiral dots inside the tube.

I bought these a few days ago.

I originally fell in love with the 750s, they were the first earphones I really liked after years of only using over ear headphones but they broke twice, both due to my clumsiness not a fault in the product. The first time they were under warranty but the second time I needed them repaired but it would've cost the same to repair the 750s as getting a new pair of 850s so I just bought a pair of these.

I've not got them burnt in yet and so I feel the bass is a bit muddy and the highs a touch shrill but if they're like the 750s the bass should tighten up and the highs will calm down after a few hundred hours listening.

Overall though they sound a lot like the 750s: nice big soundstage, lovely timbre, bass that reverberates through my skin, good clarity and detailed. I'm really looking forward to them being burned in.

They're a bit bigger than the 750s and I find they don't sit in my ears as well. The left side feels like it's going to fall out although it never actually does. I find myself continually touching it.

I'm definitely in the minority but I find the isolation on these, just like the 750s to be fine. The only earphones I have that are noticeably better are active noise cancelling ones and some A&K ones that are so small they slot right into the ear canal and block out everything. Maybe I don't need as much isolation as others, I'm just happy if my music isn't interrupted by outside sounds. I listen to a lot ambient and I can still hear train announcements etc but they're definitely background and doesn't encroach on the sound if the music. I get a good seal with the L size spiral tips.

I'm using these with a Sony A17 with no amp. Lots of ambient and Goa trance in Flac and it sounds really good.

Very happy.

Yes, the replaceable cables on the FX850 is a marvelous feature.  My original cables became intermittent after a years worth of use/abuse.  I ordered some Moon Audio cables, popped off the old cables and now their back in service.  The Moon Audio Silver Dragon cables sound great but they are quite expensive ($225) and much stiffer than the original JVC cables.
