My t-peos h-300 got backordered, I'm really just considering cancelling th order and getting these now. I don't know, I think my parents would disown me if they found out I spent $375 on "earbuds".

How do these feel while wearing them straight down?

I owned a hd650 for two months. I hated them. The bass was too sloppy for me. The bass on the fx850 is better to me IMHO. It's deeper and faster.

HD650 need proper amping and cable otherwise they do sound a little slow and sloppy. I love them, and don't care too much for the HD600

I was using them with a toxic silver widow cable and schiit valhalla amp and uber bifrost dac with usb.  I typically like warm sounding cans, but the decay was too slow for me.  The fx850 smokes the hd650 in this regard and I'm using them with a RSA predator amp/dac with a moto x phone.  At home I just plug them in to an asus stx card.  I will probably get something to pair with the comp down the road because I am selling both schiit items.

I'm really hoping the FX850 sound great straight out of an iphone 4 like the RE600 do.
I'm sure they will sound great with HM801. I'm actually really curious as of how they sound in balanced mode out of balanced HM801. I might get a $59 silver coated OFC cable and balance it just to see if it's worth it (might as well take advantage of the detachable cable option). Now, it's up to EMS to hurry up a little, I'm getting a little impatient...

The 3 top Hifiman players (HM801, 802, or 901) have interchangeable amplifier modules, some balanced (TRRS mini jack) some standard (TRS).
 
I was a little skeptic about the whole "balanced mode" thing but with the HM801, I was able to compare between standard amp and balanced amp. The difference is very noticeable (more power, better control especially in the bass frequencies... an overall "fine tuning" so to speak)
 
Hifiman has a few made 4 balanced in ear monitors (Re262, Re272, Re400b, and Re600), I tested them all and they all noticeably benefited from being run in balanced mode, all excellent in different ways.
 
And actually, Hifiman came up with a very affordable balanced player combo (HM700+Re400b at $249 and HM700 + Re600 at $499), both are pretty great sounding for their respective price...
