Thanks to James444, I have all 3, 650-750-850.

quick impressions

all 3 have muddy bass IMO, but JVC is doing much better in the treble now, because prior to these, all the JVCs I had heard were a mess in the midhighs and lower treble. They still need refinement but I think they'll sound great with triflanges which sadly I don't have at the moment but I will soon.

850 is far too bulky for me, i can make them fit, but they look silly and feel heavy, ugh. From briefly listening I don't feel like im losing a lot compared to the other two. Also James' mod simply allows the tip to leak more, that's all, it still sounds muddy if I get a good seal with the mod. The benefit of the mod is that it allows a leaky seal even when inserting deep. Also tried a UE900 cable and a eBay cable on these and the connections are simply too loose. These require a cable with a longer mmcx plug.

Seems the 750 is the only one without a vent. I think the 650 with the vents covered has the cleanest bass of the 3, but I still EQ it.

Soundstage is superb like the prior FX wood series.

Going to focus on comparing the 650 and 750 and then compare the preferred one to the 850. It's a close call between the 650 and 750 honestly....will also compare to the FX500 which I prefer to the FX700

Personally I prefer these to the 334s. The 334s bass was slower and due to that and the narrow sound staging I felt things were a bit congested on the 334. The FX850s on the other hand are quite spacious sounding. Both IEMs are bass heavy though. The 334s mids are more forward and intimate. But the FX850s mids are also a bit forward. The 850s sound much more natural and realistic IMO. Especially in instruments. The tonality is where it is at.

Really? $300 earphone better than $1350 Fitear!?!

LOL! Actually, I almost ordered three pairs by mistake because of the confusing Japanese Amazon website... what a process with the Tenso registration and all (I wonder if Tenso means "tense" in Japanese, that would explain...)

One thing I notice about the 850s is how much they flesh the vocals out. Even stuff like Sean Paul is easy to keep up with vs not being able to make out everything he is saying on other IEMs lol.

Tenso charges $22 to ship the FX850 to the USA (including fees). FX850 could be had for $311 going the Tenso route.
Looks like the prices have dropped a little on Amazon USA too, cheapest is currently about $370 with shipping included...
For those who don't mind paying premium, there is also a pair on ebay (direct from Japan) for $709.99!!!

Btw, shortly after I bought mine for $290, Amazon.jp got the nerves to send me a confirmation email showing this below (about $265!!! they all sold within minutes of course, woody snippers did not miss the target...)

Hi,
I'm new here (i m french). I'll receive my JVC FX850 tomorrow

but i'm a little bit worried about the Bass quantity/quality. You said it has muddy bass. Is it worst than a stock Denon D7000?
Cause if the fx850 sounds anything like my Denon D7000, i'll worry no more

I own a Denon D5000 and the Fx850. The FX850 has quite a bit more bass than the D5000, in terms of bass quality they are very similar.
Bass is slightly loose like on the Denons. To me it sounds warm, rounded and very natural. The bass on the FX750 is faster & more precise.
