Here is my dumb question about the removable battery:

It takes basically a Samsung i9300 battery 2300 mAh.

However, there are upgrades on ebay up to 3250.

Is it possible to use these upgrades?  My concern would be with any potential overheating.

Being familiar with smartphone battery I really don't see why you can't use a 3250 mAh battery, it shouldn't cause more heat but really only increase run times. The only concern would be running the unit for hours and hours without a break which could cause heating problems.

I would say it's safe to go ahead and try.

but u need to check the 3250mah battery size...normally it's thicker....dont think it can fit into dx50 without changing case...

NOTE: This is not my review, credits below.[/

Software:
Some of my .m4a tracks cannot be played.
The track is running, but there's no sound coming out. When I skip tracks, (those that are playable) the same thing happens. Need a restart to rectify it.
Long scanning time, w/o indication of progress.

Does this mean that it can't play ALAC files reliably after all? If that is the case, I will probably be returning mine...

Sorry, the last sentence was mine, and not part of the quote. The formatting seems to have gone awry.

Nevertheless, is there a general problem with ALACs, and if so, can this be rectified with a firmware update?

ALAC compatibility was one of my main reasons for choosing this DAP to replace my iPod Classic!

If there is a problem, it will be fixed by firmware. I remember the DX100 had issues with compatibility of file types but were ironed out with firmware updates.

Reminds me of the days when ATI came out with their 4000 series and put and end to Nvidia's price gouging.
