For me:

DX50
JDS Labs Ultra Short 3.5mm Interconnect Cable
BG8DX MX (a chinese O2 portable version with LM833P and 2 x LME49860NA)
Letv All-metal IEMs

Solid joy.

Do you guys know of any high quality interconnects that will work even if the jacks are not perfectly matched up? My Cayin C5 has a volume knob next to the line in. If I match the bottom of both devices the volume knob is covered up on one side. Since been matched them up my interconnect has started shorting out because there is more strain on one of the sides. Im thinking maybe an interconnect with L shaoed jacks instead of straight jacks might help.

If what I'm saying doesn't make sense i can take a picture of my rig later tonight.

Use some neutrik L plugs. I have a short one made by myself

I use my DX50 with an E12 as well. I want to pickup a pair of closed headphones for this combo. Any recommendations or comments about the HD 25 1-ii
Thanks for the help.

I am very satisfied with my DX50/90 + C5 + ATH-A900x headphones.

i have the hd25 sp, its a must to have the e12 or the e12a to make them sing, i dont use the bass boost on the e12a, just plain as the headphone are some kind dark sounding. (i mood them by adding soft foam inside the cups to have the bass more controled)

Guys, a little hint please. I was thinking to buy the Audio Technica Pro ATH M50x for my iBasso dx50, you think i'ts a good combo? I like a good impact on bass, i'll obtain it with this headphones? And, is it necessary to use an amp? Could you suggest me a model not too expensive, in case? Thank you very much

Hi,

I have two questions:

  1. can I charge my DX50 (most of time with a 7200mAh battery inside) with a USB HTC AC adapter (output: 5V/1A)?
  2. Is the Magni 2 + Modi 2 combo worth the cost to drive a 250ohms headphone from a PC compared to a DX50 (DAC mode)?

Thanks

Yup, good combo. And you certainly not need a portable amp with it. Low impedance headphone and very powerful DAP.

I find that the DX50's weakest attribute is its bass impact. I don't know enough about the M50x sound signature to say for sure if it will satisfy your bass craving. What I do know is they are both great pieces of audio gear.

Yes, i think the same. DX50 sounds very precise and tight, but doesn't have much "impact". But, the headphones are really important in this... i found a very old pair of AKG k55, they are out of market and are cheap, but MAN, what a slam they provide, i feel the vibration of drivers when i listen to rock or metal. So, DX50 can provide good bass, with the right sinergy.

You could try the pure sound software that's floating around this thread, and meddle with the eq on the dx50, I find that it works pretty well as far as software eq goes.
