Can someone maybe ask the Russian programmer who is making the custom firmware if he knows exactly why the sound of the DX50 changes with each firmware version?  Is it because they were using unvinished "daily builds" of the audio codecs, as many have speculated, or is there another reason? 

If the daily build/audio codec theory turns out to be correct, my guess is that it's Rockchip tha'ts making the mistake.  It would explain why Ibasso claim to know nothing about it.

Which FW did you come from?

 
This is my FW journey to date (from most recent to least recent). Out of all of the "genuine" FWs that I have tried, my favourite has been 1.2.6.
 
Modded 1.2.2 > Modded 1.2.6 > 1.2.8 > 1.2.6 > 1.2.7 > 1.2.6 > 1.2.5

Not sure that I understand what your concerns are - but from my experience, there's nothing to be lost by trying the modded FW, if you don't like it, you can just revert back.
