I can confidently recommend the D-zero SE version.  The SE version has a 24bit sabre dac, and sounds pretty freaking awesome playing high-rez out of my HTC Butterfly, either with its amp or through my ALO Continental.  From my search it seems it is not on iBasso`s English page, but there are a ton of Japanese sites showing/rating it.  Here`s the amp`s FB page:

Okay, sorry to jack the thread a little but this may, I hope, directly influence the dx50.  As I mentioned above in the reply to howdy, I bought the iBasso D-zero SE here in Tokyo a couple of months ago, and this D-zero has been built especially for the Japanese market by iBasso in cooperation with a company here called Hibino Intersound.  After a bit of research, I found that a year ago they also produced a version of the HDP-R10 with a 32bit Sabre DAC:

I need to know what Hibino is going to do with the dx50 (something, I hope !)

For anyone having trouble getting to the Recovery Menu, push the Volume Up button just before pushing the Power button and then hold them simultaneously. That will get you to the Recovery Menu every time.

I have update the FAQ accordingly.

When you select a dropdown context menu and accidentally touch "Delete" rather than "Add to Playlist", the file now disappears instantly. Most delete operations have an "Are you sure" screen that you must acknowledge in order to delete the selected file. Now the UI has no such confirmation screen. One will be added to avoid inadvertent deletes.

ah thank you

I will be waiting for responce, could you p.m. with your findings as i may miss your posting. I would consider the Jds Labs C5 as well if there is a drastic difference between that and the C&C bh.

yes no problem but it may not be for a week. pm me so I remember to pm you back! lol

Hi,
I just updated the DX-50 to firmware 1.2.2. According to the instructions the last step is a factory reset to reset the DX-50. Should I do this? I am getting a warning that "All data will be erased." I don't want to erase my music. I checked and the new firmware was installed. Thanks.

"Instruction For Firmware upgrade:
1, extract the zip file, and copy the update.img into the DX50;
2, select Settings--->Advanced--->System update (the system update option appears after the DX50 has the update.img inside);
3, click OK to start the firmware update;
4, after the firmware update completed, select Settings--->Advanced--->Factory Reset to reset the DX50;
5, delete the update.img."

Listening to my DX50 with firmware 1.2.3 and it's sounding pretty good to me. Don't have much reference from ver 1.2.2 due to low listening time. I'm currently using my Sony MDR-7520 and let me tell you that the soundstage is great. Cat Steven 24 bits/96 kHz edition of Tea For The Tilleman sound just great.

V1.2.3beta:

When browsing the directories on my 128GB SD card, new albums play right away. Huge improvement.

As for sound:  Thinner, wider, brighter...

The jury is out. I can always switch back to 1.2.2 if I want to but it's too early to tell.

Can't say i'm loving or hating the SQ of the 1.2.3 version, but it does sound a lot more refined. At first, it took me a while to get accustomed to it, since i'm doing a mental burn-in with my RE-262, and didn't heard the "bass" everyone was talking about. But so far it sounds smooth with normal files (44.1/16 and 48/16) and a lot more detailed with Hi-Res files (48/24 and above). I switched to my regular headphones (HD25 and S400) and it does have a little more bass than 1.2.2. So far, it's a pretty decent firmware, but if this keeps up, i won't be able to finish my freaking review ever...

I am surprised though that i need so little volume to use my RE-262, i'm in low gain and haven't broken the 200 barrier.
