The German Maestro GMP 8.35 D Monitor in the studio... serious about audio, INDEED!!

Yes, they fit the Beyers, but as ostewart already wrote, they are smaller in width and depth.
I have Beyer leather pads on my GMP 8.300D.

I would say if you like the GMP 8.35 D, you'll like the HD800. But I prefer the beyer T1, a little more intimate with a little more body, and they are highly detailed but more versatile. They dont hurl detail at you like the HD800

The T1 is more like the original K702 in the sound signature, here is more info: http://www.head-fi.org/t/595522/akg-k702-vs-beyerdynamic-t1-in-the-studio

About the velour pads, the bass rolloff a bit early for me. I got the best result with the oval pads, very balanced and can hold the brightness right without any peaks in the upper mids or in the treble area.

The K702 pads will not fit the GMP, just a different locking mechanism type.

Especially the gel pads! I'm keeping it on the K702 annies. I'm quite fond of these headphones!

I wish I could get a hold of some Beyer Gel Pads >.>

What would you use them for? I wonder how they would sound on the HE400... To make them fit you would have to take them apart though...

No I hear they sound really good with the D5000

How the Beyer gel pads effect the sound, why you didn't like it?

First, the opening of the pads was not as wide as expected, so my ears were cramped into them.

As for sound: it was like listening to music in a tunnel. The sound became distant and muffled. Very weird, hard to describe. But I didn't like them at all. On none of my headphones.

Okay, I know what you mean. What are the pads that you most like on the GMP 8.300 D?

I also want to mention the GMP 8.300 are 300 Ohm and this mean they're not so easy to drive to their full potential, you'll need a decent headphone to do the job in this case.

From all the ear pads I tried, I like the Beyer Manufaktur leather pads the best, followed by DT 770 velours pads.

I know they are 300 ohm, but they nonetheless hate tube amps. None of the tube amps I had and have, sounded 'right' with the GMP 8.300. A good SS amp gives better results, mostly because of their high sensitivity I guess.

Agree! I had the same experience with the QP 250, and they're only 120 Ohms. This is why I like the 8.35 @ 35 Ohms so much!

Well, to make things complicated, my GMP 250 (100 Ω) loves and sounds much better with the tube amp. It needs the extra juice
