I believe the question was does the X3 II have hardware based bass/treble control in the amp section, or is it all software based EQ? Curious to know this myself.

Now that we know the X3 II doe *not* have the hardware based bass/treble control...

It will be in X5 II

OK, curiosity is killing this cat.

Just how did a few you of get the exalted position of receiving early versions of this device.

I gather that you are permitted to discuss features and the user interface, but not sound quality. Is that generally correct?

My sense is that this unit will have a slightly different sound signature than the original X3, but not hugely different. Is that on tracik?

Quick question for any of the testers.

Has anyone on a Win 7 / Win 8.1 machine managed to get the DAC working yet?  I have drivers installed - but having issues. It is repeatable on 2 PCs.  X5 working fine in DAC mode on same machine.  FW 0.18beta

Thanks

I'll pass this on to Joe.  Looks like an issue with either current FW, or maybe the driver itself.

Same here, FW 0.18beta, Win7 machine, X3 II is not recognized as USB DAC.  I'm using the latest X5 USB DAC driver from http://www.fiio.net/en/story/242 which is actually named as DAC-Driver-for-X3-X5.zip.

But that aside, I'm VERY impressed with this little guy ;)  Significant improvement of wheel mechanism and the click-feel as you turn it, in comparison to X5 and X1.
