dual DAC can bring some 3db improvement in SNR. but are 3db worth the energy consumption of 2 DAC chips?

And back to the X3 2nd generation.

Well it has one dac so that is that. Should be a good listen. Looking forward to seeing and hearing it.

Yeah can't ask for much more from a $199 DAP, perhaps X3 III or something in the furture when costs have shrunken even more. What I want is an X5 II with dual flagship DACs from any of the usual DAC makers.

Seems like you should go to the Fiio X7 thread?

Why? The X7 is a single DAC design.

oh. sorry it's been 5 months since I've been there or so so I shoulda checked :p I thought it was dual dac. Have you heard about the new Questyle DAPs? they're two dac chips and exact same ones as the AK240's but much cheaper.

The specs say single DAC for the Questyle QP1/pro, and the X3 II has the same DAC chip as well. Interesting to hear how they all compare.

Ah what am I saying... sorry for the confusion :( but yea, wonder how they compare also with the X7 as well.

I don't know why am I too much care about LO performance between X3II and X5, instead of both HO. I mean, how will the sound of (X3II+E12A) vs (X5+E12A).

Output power is lower than X5, it's OK. But FiiO seems like more serious involved in digital domain, like crystal clock and DSD capable. Could it be X3II LO better than X5.

Actually it is the X3 2nd gen. (generation),  per FiiO and not the X3 II or MKII.

So what is the inline remote?

Feb 10, 2015 at 3:37 PM Post #357 of 9,972
it is the remote which attached to the headphone cable and works with ipod and iphone ... Fiio added a support of it to work with their new generation players

Ah, I see.

Well charging up the X3 2nd Gen. now and loading music. This is a review sample.

Well it is playing DSD right now and doing pretty well with it. Cindy Lauper on DSD, sounds. . . . goooooood.
