Hey guys, I have a question. I doubt this will work but I just wanted to check.

I am going to buy this for a work setup. Occasionally rather than playing my media I like to play a Google music channel so I can hear random stuff that's not im my library. So my question is, can I use a USB from the PC to micro usb on the X3 and stream the media? It appears to me that is just for mounting external drives to, and not how I want to use it, but I just wanted to double check.

Thanks!

Yes, you can use the X3II as an external DAC for your PC. Just plug the USB cable into the X3, and you should be able to listen to Google music through the X3. You may need to install some drivers on the PC first, and make sure you select the X3 as the playback device in the sound settings.

Does this setup - PC to X3ii DAC - mean you can use the amplifier/headphone out port of the X3ii? Thought the use of the X3ii DAC required a separate amplifier connected to the X3ii's line out port, or maybe that's just optional? Thanks!

It depends on your choice and requirements. X3's inbuilt Amp is powerful enough to handle some high impedance headphones upto 200Ohms. But if you are using >200 Ohms headphones or hard to drive Planar Magnetic Headphones, it is advisable to add in a dedicated amp. X3ii has dedicated HO and LO ports.

Option 1 - Use X3 as a DAC/Amp
You connect your headphones in the Headphone Out port of the X3

Option 2 - Use X3 as a DAC alone
You take the Line Out from X3 and connect it to an Amp and you connect your Headphone to the Amp

Hope this Helps!

Think of the PC as replacing the mSD cards for the source of music. The amplifier and line level output works the same as a stand alone unit. You just need to select DAC mode in the System Settings instead of Storage Mode.

Yeah, if you use the X3ii in DAC mode on a PC (with the proper drivers installed, of course) then you can get the sound of the X3ii's DAC and amp straight from its headphone-out

I should add that the PC really is more like replacing the storage and the SoC. The PC will do the decoding and any EQ or DSP that are desired as well, of course depending on the software being used.

X3 works fine with my LG G4. Problem is that it sucks my phone's battery dry...

You can switch off USB charging AFAIK.

How do you do that? Oh, forgot to mention that I used it as a DAC with the G4.

I don't have the X3 at hand at the moment so can't check. But from what I know there is a menu item in the settings.

Go to Windows playback devices in the audio settings, right click on the FiiO and choose properties. Go to the advanced tab and there should be a number of checkboxes, one of them is for normalisation. check that and click ok, the volume should now be normalised.

it is for DAC mode? But I wish to use it standalone
