  Any news on a 2nd gen X1?

I don't know...I haven't heard anything and Fiio just introduced color options to the X series (X1, X3ii X5ii) players so I don't think you'll see anything new this year. I don't know what they would do really to improve them greatly...too bad apple holds the patent on the touch click wheel. I think that would make these players perfect if the wheel was touch based like the iPod classic but that won't happen unless apple gave them permission and that won't happen.

Got my X1 on Friday night, used it a bit, charged it up. Has held strong til today, dropping down to about 3 bars. I turned it and my E12 off. Stuck in my lunch bag with ice packs. Take it out now, maybe 3 hours later and it won't turn on. E12 powers on fine. Never had an issue with my iPod in my lunch bag getting really cold from the ice packs. I'm almost damn sure i turned it all the way off and it wasn't playing music this whole time. Even if so it shouldn't be dead. I have it plugged in now and the red light is solid. I think I killed my X1 lol

If you press the "reset" button with a paperclip while it's charging and it doesn't turn on, it's a dead X1.

It worked! It's a miracle! What happened? The cold temp from the ice packs?

Yeah I read about that after. Seems to be a common issue. If it does it again I may return to Amazon for an Xduoo X3 for $10 more.

On that note, is 1.61 FW worth the update from 1.6 that mine came loaded with?

Unfortunately, I still use original fw1.3 Can't comment more on that! I think the update worth it. Same here with my X3ii, still use fw1.4

I think as well that, ice and X1 is not realy the best match!

As a rule of thumb I'd always try and keep up to date with FiiO's firmware (and yes, I do know there are problems with the latest X7 one), though that said I think the step from 1.6 to 1.61 is going to be minimal.

You'd also be amazed the problems a simple hard reset will solve on an X1.

You read up on the beta firmware here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/751039/official-fiio-x1-beta-firmware-download-and-discussion-thread-fw1-61-added-replaygain-and-library-search-function

I really like the 'search' function where you can filter by alphabet. No more heavy scrolling :)

I also had some issues with battery draining while turned off. Maybe you have that too ?

Unfortunately I have a new problem. The balance on my line-out setting all screwed up. Left side full volume, right side really low volume. When I switch to headphones the balance and output is normal. I contacted support and hope they can help. I tried resetting and re-updating firmware.

Sometimes, when all is well, and new FW doesn't seem to bring anything beneficial I choose to withhold updating my devices... My M3 still need more FW to fix out it rough kinks though... When will it come @JamesFiio?

Turned on my X1,put in earphones, go back to play music and the X1 has a black screen and won't respond. Gotta see if I can get the packaging from my garbage. This thing is going back to Amazon. Very disappointed. Gonna grab an xduoo x3
