Is it possible to make the X1 the X5 without changing the price tag?
Sir, it is impossible.
sorry not coaxial out, we need to keep the quality but save the cost so what we can do is remove some features.

Hmm okay then xD Shall wait for more infos on these xD I heard the new scroll wheel is a better navigation than the buttons on the X3... Guess I might as well wait for the new X3 to be released later on if I can afford to wait xD
James, I notice the USB plug of the X1 is at the bottom, middle of the device, wouldn't it be better if it can be moved to a corner and have the memory slot at the bottom as well with the LO and headphone jack at the top; one on the left and the other on the right or the LO at the bottom as well with the headphone jack on top so that we won't plug into the wrong plug? Just my opinion

the ID is not decided yet, but the LO and PO will use one headphone jack and the USB plug will be at the middle of the bottom.

How does that one compare to WM8740?
Hardware spec wise, PCM5121 isn't as good as WM8740, but it is a 32bits / 384kbps chip so even full scale digital volume control should not reduce its resolution.

i sort of wish this would be a smaller product ,from what i can see from the hand comparison , its seems to be the size of the ak100

Is that PCM5121 have similar sound with PCM5102 ?

yes, since we used WM8740 in 6 years ago, there are too many portable audio device used this DAC, includes some famous brand , SONY PHA-A, AK100/120, HIFIMAN 802, DX50, iHiFi960/760, not to talk our E7/E07/E17/E10/X3,
I think we need something new and difference, of course, we are not trying to be different , PCM5121 still a very good DAC for X1.
yes, but PCM5102 is a hardware control DAC so it is not suitable for X1. we need a software control DAC so we can use the volume control function of the DAC.
Like what James has said above. But spec wise the PCM5121 is very similar to PCM5101 (the stepdown version of PCM5121, also hardware control only). I'll venture a guess that they both share a large part of the internal circuit except for the hardware vs. software control portion, so there is a good chance they will share similar sound as well. That is also the part on TI tends to have a similar flavour of their own in all their PCM series of DAC chip.
