I don't remember what specific model the AP boxes were, but they were the cheapest ones that they offer: $6-8k range, which is less expensive than I thought they would be.

But yes, that is indeed the G.R.A.S. 45CA ear simulator.

I don't know if you have any basis for doing this comparison. How does the 45CA compare to one of their torsos?

Jeez. The SRS-2170 (SR-207 + SRM-252S) system is over $1,600 on Amazon now.

LOL **** that....

Still seemingly available for $550 on Smartimports.

I've never done business with them, but looks legit to me. I would do some more due diligence before ordering from them, just to be safe.

Well, I already had the SR-207 and would probably not want to buy entry-level STAX brand new anyway.

Ahh, I didn't know where you were sitting in your headphone hierarchy. I can't keep people straight if it's not in your sig LOL.

But it was as much a post for info to others as a reply to your post :)
SRS-2170 is vintage now. XD

I got my system through SmartImports by the way. Great customer service and quick to respond to e-mails in my experience.

Good to hear! That eases my mind a bit about pointing people in their direction that are Stax-curious.

It'd be kinda hard to miss all my posts in this thread. But just scroll through my profile to see everything I've had and heard. There's not enough room in my signature for all that. haha

  anyone??

Hello all, quick question: I've recently bought the Hifimediy Sabre 9018 DAC, and all it has is 3.5mm out. Now if I get a low end stax system with the 252 energizer, I would have to get a 3.5mm to RCA cable to connect my music, and I'm wondering if this would create any problems or lower quality (hope not). Any info if great.

I used a cable like that with no problems. Interestingly enough, I tried two different ones: a used no-name, and a cheap Monoprice bought new; the latter sounded better.
