The ENLEUM HPA-23RM & HPA-23RMH Impressions and Discussion Thread

Hi All, added Abyss JOAL to my collection and love it with the iBasso PB5 (DAC iBasso D16). The HPA-23RM seems a very interesting little amp. Any thoughts on that pair up?

I noticed a few nice leather cases here but I can’t find anything online. Any help finding out where to purchase would be appreciated!

That’s my case in the photos. I guess they liked it enough to turn it into a listing. They have a bunch of leather and colour options to choose from.

This isn’t the first case I’ve bought from them and it has to be said that the finishing on some of the others left something to be desired. However, the workmanship on this one is top notch - neat, clean and well finished, which is essential with a light-coloured leather such as this, and I’m very pleased with how it turned out.

If I did this again, I might ask to add a heatsink/cooling plate or larger vents for heat dissipation. I wouldn’t change anything else though.

Well, want to try it so if you are considering selling (preferably EU), drop me a PM.

If you're not running a planar headphone, is it still worthwhile to invest the additional $300 into the High Power version? Does the High Power version color headphones in a noticeable way compared to the standard HPA-23RM?

You might want to check the sensitivity; some planar headphones are far easier to drive than others...

Agreed. I’m using the 23RM in low gain with the LCD-5, Roon EQ and headroom management (-8dB). I usually have the volume set between 12 and 2 o’clock. Plenty of juice on tap.

Same I only use low gain. I’ve never really needed the high gain but then I don’t like listening to music at high volumes.

No, it just has more power for the Tungsten. The standard one is good with planars too, and you get more battery life.

The rig at the recent CanJam Singapore with some prototype DITA IEMs.

Really keen to hear if you have any more thoughts on the synergy of the Moon Rover and 23RM. I have just massively upped my IEM game by getting the Moon Rover. They won me over in an audition with just a Dragonfly Red but I am intrigued to hear what they could do with a proper amp (currently have an Ifi Zen Can at work as well). I would primarily be looking to use it at work, fed by a Metrum Octave, but if it is really good, I might look for the set up to replace my Stax rig at home. In theory, the Current mode with the planar Moon Rover should be a good match.
In case anyone else is interested at some point, I have just got the 23RM and it is rocking my world with the current output to the Campfire Moon Rover IEM. I don’t have any other high end headphone amp experience, so can’t say if it is better than similar costing amps but I am super satisfied with what I am getting, even with a Dragonfly Red feeding it (have also used by TotalDac at home to great effect). The detail retrieval, space, and grip are phenomenal. Female vocals are sublime.

I bought it, used, in a vulnerable, rash moment. Only a couple of days in, but I can’t see me regretting it.

Only thing for others to watch out for: the metal cases of the Moon Rover seem to cause an earth loop hum when charging. Also get this on my Ifi Zen Can. An earth connection in the 3.5mm socket sorted that, but doing the same with the 23RM mutes the RCA input, so if I want to listen whilst charging, it needs another ground connection to the case or rca ground.
