The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!

The one I bought in February 2022 was produced in May 2019. It has been sitting in that box for close to 4 years but I have no issues with it. If I am filling up for it, I will just walk to Sony and ask them for a battery replacement while still under warranty.
I am sure someone on headfi or an aftermarket shop will be doing battery replacement for a near indefinite time.

That's quite a long time. I had purchased mine overseas so it would cost quite a bit to send with the current shipping costs, but hopefully when it comes to that point I'll be able to get it done in Japan while on holiday :fingers_crossed:

Hello all, as it looks like the original SONY remote control RMT-NWS20 seems to work with NW-WM1A/Z M2 as well (https://www.head-fi.org/threads/new-sony-nw-wm1z-m2-wm1a-m2.962054/post-17108371).
On top of that "Satechi R2 Bluetooth Multimedia Remote Control" can be used with M2s as well (https://www.head-fi.org/threads/new-sony-nw-wm1z-m2-wm1a-m2.962054/post-17107828).

OTOH has any of you by change tried using Satechi R2 with the OG NW-WM1A/Z?
Do you think it might work with M1s well together based on this remote's specifications?

I have the same question. Any idea if this will work with the OG WM1Z? https://www.amazon.co.jp/Satechi®-Bluetooth-Button-iPhone-Samsung/dp/B00RM75NL0

nc8000: It is only your assumption however it may be correct.
If the OG SONY remote suitable for NW-WM1A/Z M1s (based on SONY own OS that is based on Linux OS) works on NW-WM1A/Z M2s too, why could Satechi R2 remote not work with OG NW-WM1A/Z M1s OTOH as well?

Yes it’s an assumption but nobody in the 6 1/2 years since launch have reported being able to get any other remote to work and many have tried many different options

I own the Sony remote. I bought this Fiio remote years ago to use with my android phone while driving, it is the RM1 that may or may not be the same specs as the other remote. I tried pairing with my WM1Z and it failed to be recognised.
When trying to find how to connect it took me a while to work out that when switching to J3 it needed to have the remote setting on in the CFW.

Interferences from electromagnetic and electrostatic influx, thus blacker background also relief, pace and imaging. The same things as the solid copper case does. My total question is, why didn’t Sony ground it? They thought the 4.4mm was better ungrounded?
Why?
I still don't get the benefit of grounding the 4.4mm connector if I'm not using it to an external amp. Can someone explain?

They stated that thy didn’t want to ground the 4.4 as they feared it could introduce noise
