FWIW, when I got my brand new WM1A a coupe months ago, I fully charged it and then ran it down to do a battery calibration/initial burn-in. I played a playlist of 16-bit ALAC, and auto shutdown happened 29 hours, 40 minutes later (stock firmware; high gain; 4.4mm out; 58 volume inot a set of ATH-WP900 cans).

I fully charged again after that, and since have run it with battery care on so it doesn't charge past 90%. My normal usage since then is to put it back on the charger once I notice battery meter is down to a single bar. In my case (using MrWalkman's FEv2 firmware (Plus mode) + 4.4mm + high gain), that typically means anywhere from 10 to 12.5 hours of use under these criteria. Yeah, I am a bit nuts about long term battery health.

I've noticed for a while that my 1A seems a lot below the 30 hours or so battery life - I'm mostly playing 24bit FLAC and on Midnight classic, I guess both factors will reduce it.

On another note, can the Sony proprietary cable be bought anywhere? I have two, 1 also from my ZX300 but paranoid about losing both by some unfortunate circumstances! I bought a random brand on Amazon and while it charges, it constantly drops connection to Mac and PC. I'd like 2 more in reserve, just in case

Amazon US have them... which to include shipping and import fees, gets to me at €35 - about $42. Expensive but I'll rest easy knowing I've one in emergency stock!

But it allows me to use dap as dac with MacBook …
So do you except any difference with iPhone via adapter ?

Hello. There is no difference, the setup with the WMP-NWM10 is more compact, that is all.

Beside battery performance, does anyone know what does actually happen inside hardware when we choose gain mode? Does output voltage increase or just increase the volume on digital part?

Voltage and output are significantly increased, especially comparing Single Ended to Balanced
