I've got to believe that all the shipping companies are totally slammed. And if the choice comes down to a new portable DAC, and supplies to save someone's life, I know which side I would come down on. So do what you can, and we will understand.

And its really Christmas. 5 minutes ago it finally arrived.

Absolutely marvelous unit! Sound is totally fantastic. Black background, no noise when quiet music, clean sound, Bluetooth same quality as with cable, solid aluminum case.two complaints only, liked the rubber volume control on V1 better and also the bass/treble controls. Harder to switch now. But even the sun has spots . Been a CEntrance fan for at least ten years. On my desk is the CEntrance desk speakers and the DAC/AMP. Their service is outstanding as well. So happy I got rid of my Sony DAC, my Sennheiser DAC, my and so on! I even bought the MixerFace for recordings with my Canon 5D Mark IV. Think they are pioneers still after so many years. And not millions in marketing but put their money in R&D to produce very high class products. No I am not paid by CEntrance or Mr Goodman - just tired of changing equipment all the time. Want things I can use for a long time and that I know works.

Should USB input using Iphone Xs from lightning connector work? I have tried USB C from my Ipad and USB from my Macbook. Both work. but no sound when using lightning connector on Iphone. Bluetooth works from same phone.

I suppose, like with other portable DACs, you need an OTG Lightning to USB-C cable ..there are some short or long on aliexpress

Historically the way to do it with Apple (lightning) and dac amps is to use an Apple camera connection kit (in earlier days was the 30 pin version).




but as seen below with the DACportable and some others it isnt always needed.

I will go through my cables when i wake up on a few more hours and see if i have a lighting to usb c cable.

I have lightning to USB C cables and I have tried 2 different with my Iphone Xs. No sound. I have used same phone with V1 (Lightning -> USB A) no issues.

i did a couple of quick experiments (...and dropped one dap and smashed the back glass whilst getting stuff, ugh)

Just a youtube video my son was watching the day before. Just an audio check..amirite!?

NOTE: i plugged everything in. Then turned on the Hifi-m8 v2, then switched the input ( that took 2-5 seconds to register. Slower than1-2 seconds of a usb c to usb c. Apple i guess).
