The Beyerdynamic Tesla DT 1350 Impressions thread
Jun 24, 2021 at 2:30 PM Post #1,291 of 1,323
Wondering if any long time users of DT1350s, or T50s for that matter, have notice degredation of performance over time?

Mine get used daily commuting and at work. They have recently become very bass shy. My T51i before that seemed to "wear out" and lose some life in the sound after a few years as well.

Obviously I love this family of headphones. Shame parts are so hard to come by. Driver swaps are tricky but not impossible.
Mine too has lost a lot of bass especially sub-bass...but I can't say if this is due to new pads EDT1350NL - 908363, don't buy!!

As I said on this thread back in March, I replaced the stock pads on mine (EDT1350SL) with a pair of EDT51p. Aside from being more comfortable they tightened up the bass somewhat. I ordered another pair early this month from Amazon UK, since they're not available in the U.S.

I wonder if anyone here has tried the Aventho wired yet? Curious about them and I've seen them for pretty reasonable prices a few times, just have too many headphones already.
Not quite a Dt1350. Aventho sounds like a consumer headphone. Though, it seems due to its tuning and not necessarily a shortcoming of the tesla driver. Been trying out tuning mods to make it sound close to a dt1350

After the pads replacement with the article 910376 the DT1350 are back! The bass is back and the sound is great as it was. My suggestion is not to buy the article 908363 for the DT1350 but the 910376. The 908363 is fot the T51p that has bloating bass and are not as balanced as the DT1350. I've bought from Amazon in europe this is the ASIN B00CK90G0S

Totally agree. DT1350 is one of the most balanced sounding headphone by Beyerdynamic while the Aventho sounds more like a Bose with bloating bass and more treble. I don't understand why Beyerdynamic is following the bloating bass trend instead of fast and balanced bass in their latest products.

:gs1000smile:I'm glad it has worked out for you. I looked up that number. 910376 is the EDT1350SL, which are the stock pads for the DT1350. 908363 is the EDT1350N, which are the "Nubuck" suede earpads. They're not the stock pads for the T51P or any other headphone in the series, but they're made to fit them.

What you say is correct, it surprised me a lot too! I guarantee you that the distance between the ear and the driver using the pads I discarded is 3 times more than the "original" pads ... and the sound is terrible !!:L3000:

I seldom take out my beloved DT1350 and recently I've notices that bass and sub-bass seems to be almost gone... I've tried to press the pads to improve the clamping force and the bass seems to be back.. They may have lost come clamping force over time? The drivers sound fast and detailes as always, I don't think that both could have been damaged. Any idea about how to improve the clamping force? The only spare parts available from Beyerdynamic is the slider repair kit.

It's never happened with my pair, but it's possible. Every once in a while, one of the earcups slips out of the notch I adjusted it to, but the clamping force hasn't charged permanently. The only possible solution I can think of is to bend the headband inward little by little until the clamp feels right to you, but I don't know how bendable it is, so that might cause more problems than it solves. Have you searched the thread for "clamping"?

innerfidelity's youtube channel used to have video that had some good tips for bending headbands, dunno if it's still up though

IIRC 1350 bass performance is particularly sensitive to seal and ear positioning, so it could also be the pads contributing to the issue as well- particularly the stock pads which I believe some people had trouble with even when they were new (replacing them with t51 pads was often suggested from what I remember).

Thank you very much PlantsmanTX and Raketen for both your contributes, I'm quite sure that the issue is due to the new set of pads (910376 EDT1350SL) that are a little bit thicker than the original. I've left the DT1350 under a rather heavy book for some hours and now the pads are a little bit thiner and the bass seems to be back...
