The Best Noise Cancelling (ANC) Bluetooth Headphones "discussion and comparison" Thread

What they call Heist, the rest of the world call it Multipoint.
Those ones which I have mentioned are the only ones which you can find, as far as I remember.
There are other ones with multipoint but without ANC.

Well, I am slightly late to the party but I just covered the Sony MDR-ZX770BN here.  Interesting pair of headphones with surprisingly good performance for something that is wireless.

The party just begun :)
Nice review.
I think I really need to get a Camera for my next reviews...
Did you try other BT headphones?

@bladefd, thanks, it looks promising. I will definitely be willing to try them out if I have a chance.
But I think they are out of place in this thread, considering that they have no ANC.
Or did I miss it?

Hello Guys,

I made an impulse decision to purchase the Samsung Level Overs as I was able to get them very cheap (~$230 AUD). I am not an audiophile but to my untrained ears I found the sound quality to be about on par with the QC25s (recently purchased for the other half) using a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 as the source (Samsung Level Bluetooth v QC25 wired) and a mix of flac/mp3. I am in no way qualified to make a proper evaluation as Giogio has done but would agree with most of the comments made is his review. For me the Bass is sufficient if used with the Samsung App/EQ but would agree that it is mediocre without it. As my Note 4 is my primary music source this is not a problem for me.

Initial likes/dislikes (personal opinions) -

+ Sound quality (for a non-audiophile)
+ Swipe Controls
+ No cords (first time bluetooth headphone user and i love it!)

- Size & Weight - they are a bit too heavy for my liking and they seem to be giving me a bit of a neck ache after short periods of listening (might be compounded by my poor posture :P).
- Feel a bit cheap (for the RRP but okay for what I paid)

Other notes -

Sound volume did not reset to 0 (off) but it did reduce back to a lower volume after switching the headphones off and on again (not sure if this is what Giogio experienced). Maybe it is to prevent someone from hearing damage if it was left at maximum volume when previously used...

Loudness was more than my ears could handle when turned up on both my Note 4 (phone/app) and the headphones

Summary -

Overall I am very happy with these headphones although the weight may be the killer for me. Based on this alone I have not yet decided if I will keep them or sell them and look for something lighter like the Beats Studio Wireless even if these means making a few compromises. I have an overseas flight next week and will see how they perform for ANC and see how my neck adjusts to the weight.

I would be very interested to hear from those who have directly compared the two (Samsung v Beats) especially with regards to the ANC as i have read a few reviews that state that the background hiss from the Beats can be annoying. Note that I would be happy with anything on par with the Samsung Levels with regard to sound quality but wouldn't want to take too much of a hit in regard to ANC.

Forget the Beats!
Horrible sound and very bad ANC with loud hiss.
Besides, you can not disable the ANC on the Beats.
If you liked the sound of the Samsung (warm, good soundstage) the other best option is the Sennheiser M2AEBT.
There are some discussions in this moment about the fact that some people had connectivity problems with them.
Sennheiser is said to be resolving this, so you may want to wait before buying them.
The new Denon could be a valid option if you can try them of get them with return policy (I know it is not easy in Australia).
The Plantronics are good too, not really warm but warmer than the Beats for sure, with more bass than Samsung and Sennheiser. The ANC is good but not as the Samsung.

For more suggestions you should at least give more indications of what you look for, tastes, music etc.

Edit: ok I may have exaggerated with "horrible sound", but, well, I horribly not like them.

Subbed. Great idea for a thread.

I'm yet to hear better ANC than in the Bose offerings - but I'm not a huge fan of their comfort, build or the sound.

I looked for other offerings, such as the Parrot ZIK, but ended up trying the House Of Marley LEGEND ANC:

Whilst it might look pretty, and feel nice in the hand, the ANC was absolutely terrible. Half the time I wasn't even sure if it was turned "on" or not. They were also not very comfortable, and I wasn't a fan of their unusual sound.

**EDIT:** Sorry guys, I didn't realise this was a BLUETOOTH ANC discussion. Most of the models I mentioned are wired ANC.

I'm looking for a pair of Bluetooth ANCs that are as compact as possible when put away. The Sennheiser MM 450-X look like they fit the bill better than anything I've seen, but I'm curious what else is out there. Any other suggestions?

I use a pair of Parrot Zik 2.0 daily on at work and on the commute to and from work (expect when i cycle), and I really enjoy the sound quality with good clarity and bass and great noice cancelling. I mostly listen to music on the commute and audiobooks at work, and this headset is really good at blocking out sounds from the AC and muffle the voices from colleagues. I sometimes use my girlfriends Bose QC25's for the commute and at work when I've forgotten to recharge the Zik's and they are better at blocking out the rumbling from the bus and train while I think the Zik 2.0's better block out the louder sudden noises and voices.

The biggest downside with the Zik 2.0's are, as most reviews will tell you, the battery life. I usually get around 6-6,5 hours with ANC on and bluetooth connected to my Sony Xperia Z3. I don't use the built-in EQ the headphones provide or Concert Mode. And they sound horrible in passive mode when the battery dies and you just use them with the cable.

Other headphones I've owned/borrowed with BT and ANC are:

Sennheiser Momentum Wireless AE - Unfortunately they gave me trouble with lots of stuttering when I was commuting and walking about so I returned them. I really liked the sound quality as I've done with the wired Momentums in the past and the excellent battery life while the ANC was on par with the Zik 2.0's but I just couldn't live with the constant stuttering and drop outs in sound. This problem is well documented on this forum in the thread dedicated to this headset. Call quality on bluetooth was not much to brag about either, people complained that they could hear my surroundings better than my voice in noisy situations.

Sony MDR-ZX770BN - An impulse buy a few weeks ago. I liked the sound quality after selecting the correct sound mode with APTX-support, they were comfortable, and the ANC and battery life was decent, They didn't give me anything the Zik's didn't already deliver besides better battery life so I returned them after a week. If you can get them for a discount from the RRP they are a great buy.

Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H8 - Borrowed these from a friend. I really liked the sound, design and they have decent ANC and battery life. I experienced this annoying random "popping" sound with ANC active when I was walking around with them or using them on a bus or in a car when the road got bumpy. On ears aren't perfect for me as I'm wearing glasses but they were some of the better I've come across in regard to comfort. If they were cheaper they could be a good buy but the premium pricetag is just not worth it in my opinion.

Samsung Level Over - Bought them last year before getting the Parrot Zik 2.0's. Good sound quality, great ANC and battery life but they were just too large for my taste. And they have the same trouble with a "popping" sound on bumpy roads and when walking as the BeoPlay H8 have. They probably had the best bluetooth call quality I've come across in noisy enviroments, almost no one could guess I was calling them from a wireless headphone.

I'm going to borrow a pair of Sennheiser MM550-X from a colleague next week. From a few listening sessions I've already had with them at work I think they have a "cold" sound which I don't find that appealing but I'll pass judgement when I've used them for a few weeks as my daily driver and tweaked my phones EQ to their sound stage. I'm also going to give the Denon AH-GC20 a listen when I can find them in a local store, as of writing this they aren't available in my hometown in Norway yet.

I was contemplating buying the Plantronics Backbeat Pro but the size of the headphone put me off after having owned the Samsung Level Over. But they seem like a great buy with all the bells and whistles I would want in a headphone and then some for a good price.

OT: English is my second language so please overlook bad spelling or unfathomable sentences :)

Good feedback @andrenb. What exactly are you looking for in the newer models you are trying since you seem to be pretty happy with the Zik apart from battery life?

I'm looking for mainly two things, one is better battery life as you mentioned and the other better sound quality when used in passive mode with the cable. The battery usually won't last for my commute + workday as the battery usually dies after approximately 6 hours so I have to charge it in the middle of the day if I want to avoid using it in passive mode on the way home. The other thing is that I find it barely tolerable when listening in passive mode, of course it's better with a little bit of sound when the battery dies than no sound at all, but I really can't enjoy it in that mode.

The Sennheiser Momentum Wireless AE would be my absolute favorite if it wasn't for the bluetooth trouble and problematic microphone quality on calls. Excellent battery life and good sound quality even in passive mode, and good enough ANC in my opinion. Another favorite is the B&W P5 Wireless with it's great size, sound quality in both active and passive mode and good battery life. But it lacks ANC which I just can't live without.
