Can't believe there haven't been more mentions for Lhasa de Sela -  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hTpR-TYTZ0http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=El8_wP-8v8k

I love Cerys from Catatonia's voice, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yH04i4eTrJk, gotta love that Welsh accent

And also loving this from Rubblebucket - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yH04i4eTrJk.

Finally a slightly more off the wall one, the Ditty Bops - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iu7289s7l64&feature=fvwrel, awesome harmonies!

Both have an effortless and almost ethereal way of singing

Big fan of both, and their respective bands.

Nice!

Would you know any other bands with vocals like this? Most 'goth' female vocalists are too over the top for me or are too 'heavy' if that makes sense. Doesn't have to be metal could be anything!

One I'd forgotten about - very 80's - but good strong rock voice

Shona Laing - Soviet Snow

Takes about 2 minutes to get into the vocals - but the opening orchestral is a nice lead in.

Try Theater of Tragedy and Delain.  They fit that category.  As does Sirenia's "The 13th Floor" (their prior albums had a different and less talented signer).

I want to marry Melody Gardot. Others that get a decent amount of play in my collection- Cassandra Wilson, Elisabeth Kontomanou, Youn Sun Nah, and for something different (pop/electronic), Samantha James.
