Maybe the M-100 and amp them w/ the ZO2 when you need it (Dubstep, etc.)?

Been doing some more reading... I am going to use a FiiO E17 with either  DT 770 PRO - 250 ohms or M-100. I am leaning toward the M-100's. Source is a Ipod Classic playing mostly Hip-hop and R&B. Opinions on the two?

I'm also a junglist at heart. Check my sig for some dub I produced, if you're into it. Also have some good dnb and other basshead material in my favorites on soundcloud.

What would be your recommendations for something up to $300-ish.  Something with decent mids as vocals play a big part in a lot of music I listen too.  Interested in the AKG K267 and Pioneer HDJ-2000..

Thanks

Hey we're missing the Velodyne vPulse.

I'd like to add the Yamaha Pro 500's to that list, they'll cost you a little more, but an amp is not absolutely necessary. I'm currently listening to Dubstep on my note II with Poweramp, and they are literally vibrating on my skull. The V-Moda M100's which I also recommend, and are also fun to listen to.

Unless you prefer the brightness of the Beyers, the M-100 is easier to drive and my favorite closed portable made today.  There are a few summit-fi Head-fiers who use TH-900s at home and posted they are very happy with M-100s as portables.

Which one brings bigger bass?

does anyone know how far the bass in the m-100 can go without distorting with the zo2?

There might be some basshead cans that can handle higher SPL (hope I am using the correct term), but I had to double amp with E11 and ZO2 to push the M-100 drivers over the top which was close to an unbearable listening level anyway.  You can get more bass from the XB line, but you will pay a serious price in overall SQ.

I think I've found my perfect bass headphones.  AIAIAI TMA-1s.  Love the darkness of the sound.  The bass is exaggerated and menacing while being controlled and clean.  For dance music there's nothing I've heard that beats them. Junglist checking in here.

i cant seem to find any frequency graphs for the m-100... can someone tell me if its darker/brighter compared to the dt 770s? and bass QUANTITY wise? whos the bassyer can? which has more sub-bass? are the mids recessed in the m-100 at all? i dont imagine they can be more recessed then the dt 770s? is anyone powering their m-100 off an odac+o2 combo?

M-100 is not as bright as the DT770 which I think is a good thing.  M-100 is NOT dark, just not overly bright IMO as the DT770 can be.  Bass is superior on M-100, both sub bass and mid-bass slam.  Mids are more forward on M-100 than DT770.

thanks for responding, so they're darker, but not dark, with more forward mids and better bass and sub bass?

anyway, i know the m-100 are said to have better quality bass, but i was asking about quantity, is that what you were talking about?
