The Basshead Club

  @Oregonian

Not sure if that comment was aimed at me but I have been nothing but respectful to you because you own the cans I will buy when the whole spectrum is given equal attention. Th900 or DX1000 are my future laid back listening cans. That's already been decided. I only argue bass impact because I will but it whatever it is. A person comparing 40mm drivers housed in plastic that are tuned very well and do hit above their price line and driver size...... being compared to 55mm cnt drivers with a hard housing...being compared it seemed as being equal or inferior was off the charts. Like I said...objective v.s. subjective. It's not even an argument I'm just a tool for acting like a fool but there is no real debate in there.

PocketSmiley and RPGWizard are assets to this thread. They both post long well articulated posts explaining their position/opinion/facts

I prefer that over snarky one liners 10 times outta 10 myself

HBB, my comment about the thread being tedious was a general comment. Guys quoting thread after thread and not taking the time to cut pics out, and when some of the comments are about a half a page long, well, it does get tedious.   I forget the term when you "hide" a portion of the thread (spoiler?) and we can all use it more to save having to sift through a bunch of stuff we've read two or three times already.

I actually think you are an asset to the thread as you've been very articulate with your comments, have taught us all a lot about what a "true" basshead is if there ever was one.  The likes of you we have never seen/heard before.  Your passion is obvious and I find it amusing.  One thing - you've said many times no one would tell you about the SZ.  Know why?  No one but gelocks knew about it and he tried to get us to buy it from him many times.   Kind of wish I had now.  You're a pioneer, embrace it.

Regarding your admission about your mother - dude, I hope you've made peace with yourself because in the end it is the man in the mirror that matters and only you can forgive yourself.  Your regrets are genuine, that is so true, and I respect the pain you've endured.  Hang in there.

I think those weirdo DonScorpio headphones might have arrived already!

I didn't know this: "We cooperate with Velodyne, the world class King of Bass."
Can't wait to check them out, especially their "bass heavy" version (to keep it on thread!).

Rocking out with my SigDJs at the moment. It's definitely a weird transition from using something like the Alpha Dogs and then go right back to the fun dynamics of the SigDJs. Doesn't matter what genre, they just make everything "funner". Listening to Chance The Rapper at the moment.

Can't wait to hear the impressions.  Which did you get?  The blue look sweet...................

HBB - got another recommendation for you - when you get a chance, try out the Sennheiser HD8 or 7.  I sent them back because they were too bassy (and I mean WAY too bassy - this from a guy with all kinds of bassy phones) - for you they might be perfect.  Seriously well built portable cans might be ideal for your rig.

Maybe your headphone shop has them to test?

The Drama I ordered the "Silver and Blue" option.
For the Dolphin I ordered the Luminous Ocean one.

Received a box from DHL a few minutes ago. Doesn't look big enough to have both headphones but we'll see...
I'm at work so I cannot take the box inside (package comes from China)

Tonight I'll post a few pics and initial impressions.

I did 4+ hours of research on the k240's, and before that I was looking at HD 598's, vmoda m-80's, lp's, ha-mr77x's, grados, and a few more... I wanted a single sided detachable cable. Check. Decent build. Check. Big soundstage. Check. Open backed. Check. Flat(ish) sound signature. Check. Good all around sound quality. Check. Has to be driven by e11. Check. And the sexy retro looks with gold colored accents are just a plus.

We're all trying to find what we like and we haven't found it yet so the search goes on. It's the search for the holy grail

lol since when did bigger drives mean better bass.

lol to the lol
well, to Hawaii and some others on this thread, more impactful, thumping bass is better bass. And larger drivers beat smaller drivers in pushing air almost always.
