Both have the same driver technology. The main differences will be the different headphone chassis (wood cups on d5k/d7k/th-900 vs. plastic cups on d2k/th-600), and driver tuning. The TH-900 stands out with its 1.5 Tesla magnet controlling the voice coil, but it still has the same 50mm microfiber diaphragm membrane with the free-edge technology and the acoustic baffle plate around the driver that's used on the rest of the headphones.

Having had the XB500 & XB700 and now all the Denons, there's no comparison. Some will prefer the XB's but I used to think they were the shiit till I got my first D20000.

I have the xb500, and upgraded to the hfi 580's. Those with the bass boost on my e11 on had as much as the xb500's.... If what i have heard about the denons is true u should be one happy camper :wink:

Let's hope! Orgon does yourr MD2000 have any dampen mods on it?

None in the cups from Martin but the driver has the Lawton mods. After hearing from Mark Lawton that he does in fact dampen wood cups when he does his mods, I'm considering doing it to the COCOBOLO cups. Not that I feel it needs it but you know how it is "might make it just a bit better". But not sure if I want to take the phone apart.
