As Audio Technica is becoming my favorite headphone brand I am starting to collect more and more of them. I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread with info about their various models.
The "Woodies" will probaly get the most attention here, but I certainly don't want to exclude some of the other models that are worth a mention.
The thread is in the High-End forum though, so it might be a good idea not to include the base models.
I hope for this thread to grow over time with info and opinions from people who actually own the phones and be a reference to others.
Once I will have owned my collection for a longer time I will of course post my opinions here as well.

The post will be updated with a chronological list of the models, number of units made and a picture for each Woodie.
I have not had much time to do something with this thread I started lately but will try to work on it in a few weeks.
For now, I will post some price information on the Woodies with a big thanks to filuS who gathered all the info.
Feel free to PM me with any info, corrections or a nice picture of your headphone if it's in this list. Once a picture has been added for that phone there's no need to send me more, you can post them in this thread.

Very nice! I just got the es7 & couldn't be happier: ) So far it beats out my past cans, so I can imagine your collection must sound amazing.. was too late for that es88 sale though ..

Ah the ES88. I had some trouble getting it since I live in Europe.
It is still on it's way here though so I haven't heard it. It shipped out two days ago.
I'm still trying to expand my collection, phone by phone.  :)
I will need to do something with this thread though, just need to find the time.
I'm hoping for some more interest as it will be important to have various opinions.  :)

I understan your feelings. That was the one I bought. Later I had to sell it as I needed the money at the time and the price had nearly doubled so I could not justify keeping it.

My first headphone rig was an Audio-Technica ATH-L3000 and Singlepower Audio MPX-3.  I purchased both items new.  Since I live in the Denver area I even met Mikhail Rotenberg of Singlepower at his office when I picked up the new amp.  Seems like a long time ago.  I miss both items...simply classic

I love AT!
My first set if phones were AD900 which I sold to move up to AD2000. I use my XS7 for portable and iPad/iPod.
I am looking at getting either W5000 or W3000ANV for HiFi music. Just trying to work out what amp/dac to pair up. Started a thread over in Desktop Amos for advice.

I wish I had been into headphones at the time the L3000 came out. Now I'm desperately trying to find me an absolutely mint one.
 
I definitely want to try a pair of open AT's as well Masika. The AD2000 is on my list to buy soon.
How soon depends on when I am going to change my two Dacs into one endgame Dac, since that one will cost me an arm and a leg.
As for amp advice, the advice I got specifically for ATs was the Yamamoto HA-02, the AT-HA5000(ANV) and the Zana Deux.
I have the AT-HA5000ANV right here and does extremely well with ATs of course, being an AT amp.
The Yamamoto is a dream with ATs as well, you really get one of the best soundstages I heard from any amp I owned so far. If there is an amp that is underpriced, this one is it IMO.
The Zana I have on order for about 6 weeks now and it should be nearly finished. Then I'll still have to wait for shipping and customs.
The Luxman P-1u I have is rather comparable to the HA5000. The difference would be that it sounds a little cleaner but has a bit less warmth than the HA5000.
The HA5000 wins in the bass department where the Luxman wins when it comes to treble. As for the mids it just depends if you want the extra warmth or not.
 
My start with headphones was when I still lived with my parents and couldn't use my big DIY bass+horn speakers (made by a school teacher together with an electronics class) when my mother was at home since she was allergic to any kind of music. I had an old dark gray oval Telefunken and a big square orange and white thing with volume sliders on the sides of the cups. Been trying to find out for years now what brand that was but just can't find it back. I also had a Sony Walkman with the phones that came with it.
When I moved out I was using speakers only again.
I became interested in headphones again in 2008 and joined Head-Fi soon after.
I started with a HD650 and HD800 with a Pro-Ject amp and dac which I sold pretty fast. 
Tried some other amps and phones including orthos and stats and got my first AT end 2010/begin2011 somewhere. It was the W1000X. I actually bought it as a mid-priced closed can to have one to compare with the D7000 without having high expectations about it. I had it lying around for quite a while without seriously listening to it. Once I strated doing that I got hooked on ATs.  :)

The Donald North Audio tube amp excelled with the A-T I had at the time (W1000, W5000). I had the Sonett, and would guess that it will probably be eclipsed by his soon-to-be new 2A3 amp. The Sonett was everything the Yamamoto was, and more.
 
The A-T I a miss the most is the W2002. The best A-T have great virtues, but also have glaring characteristics that push many people away.

Do you think the 2A3 will do better than the Sonett with ATs or will it just be overkill for them?
The 2A3 has been on my mind for a while now but I'm doubting if the Sonett wouldn't be a better choice.
I am intrigued by the 2A3 sound signature though.
