The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New)

Eversince I acquired WA2 and Stax (507 & 404LE), my Audezes have been downgraded to spares.
They used to be my main Cans when my 2A3 tube amp still around, sadly it has to undergo maintenance due to humming.
Audeze with WA2 really can't compete with my T1+WA2 imho, while the Stax are simply amazing...even with my Alo PanAm, my LCD-2 can't compete with T1+WA2 and Staxs.

Seem like I need to find a suitable amps to make my Audeze sing again

The WA2 is definitely not a good match with the LCD-2, it's a SET amp.

Do you have any speaker amps?

My speaker amp, 2A3, is on repair for the moment while another custom one is still not yet ready.
I guess I need to wait till one of them has come and give it another go.

I used to highly satisfied with my LCD-2F + Alo PanAm + AK240...I thought it was the best sound ever, at least this is the sound that get me into this hobby...oh boy I was wrong.
Don't get me wrong here, I still love my Audeze, the X and 3 is still in my bullseye, just need to find the right amps

In my car to the office, my LCD-2F is still the champion pair with Alo PanAm or Vorzuge Pure II.

Those two are somewhat low power OTL amps, so they're not the best option for orthos. The Lyr is the most popular amp in that price bracket (and the Lyr 2 just came out today), I've also heard very good things about the Little Dot MK VI+.

Mike Mercer mentioned that he's going to be doing a review of the LCD-2F on Positive Feedback, and that there would be an article reviewing the current Audeze cans on Audio360 as well. Probably would be worth keeping an eye on those sites.

can diddily do! Looking at the freq graph both my HE 4 and the LCD 2 have simmilar but different looking graphs... I like how "bright" and "edgy" the  the HE 4 is, I wonder if the LCD 2 will have the same edge and tactility within the mids the HE 4 has...  the low mids look better on the LCD 2 but the upper mids on the HE 4...

I'm considering having my LCD2.2.2"s upgraded to Fazor.  It's a $250 charge.  I wonder how big a difference it is?  LCDX in the future so I'm thinking about just waiting for those but...................

IMHO, the Fazor upgrade is worth $100 sound-wise to me. Including shipping. Yes, you get an objectively better can, but some magic is gone... It's still apples to apples but just different kinds.
