How much improvement would i get if i have it mo in to s-mod?
A lot of improvements. You don't just get a true line out. The DAC chips are swapped from the WM8740 to the WM8741. Which, IIAMN, the top chip from Wolfson.

No I have not tried it, both my Titans are modded with the basic mod only.
takes about 4-5 days from when Vinnie receives them.

Battery life drops down to about 5 hours. But the return on sound quality was well worth the mod IMO.

The mod brings its capability to a whole other level.  If you max out the amp/cable/headphones, it should be SQ king as far as portable hi-fi goes (I haven't heard the 240, but for its price, it should use WM8741 chips).
A friend of mine listened to my set up and said it sounded like there was a living room playing music in his head.

IMO the only negatives of the rwak120b/s are price of admission, required bigger footprint, reduced battery life, and UI could be better (and unfortunately, it seems that iRiver is done with giving a damn about the ak120, so the firmware might not get any better).

I am amping my stock AK120 with RSA SR71B and listen in balance mode. It's not as good as the modded AK120 but has the extra flexibility of using it as a standalone unit with decent battery life in those ultra portable situations.

Definitely agree with ChrisSC, even without the mod, you will be looking at an expensive setup when you throw in a good amp and cables. I wish AK240 had a better battery life.........

Has anybody compared the AK240 to the RWAK120B/S?
thx

I have ak120 for six months, been listening to the dx90 for a week.

I like the dx90 more.

To me, clarity, dynamics, sound stage are better on dx90, it also more musical.

I'm selling my ak.

Waouuuuuu !!! very nice.
i have an AK120 and will receive soon my DX90.
i was wondering what could be the comparaison.

Which IEMs/headphones are you pairing the AK120 and DX90 with?  I have the AK120 with SE846 and debating whether to pick up the DX90, and how much of an impact/improvement there may be with the lower impedance of the DX90.

Looks like UI functionality and usability between the AK120 and DX90 is on par with each other from the reviews and product info I've seen, what are your thoughts?

I think I will be getting the DX90 too as I do like ESS DACs.  NVM, just ordered.
