I'm an Ety ER4P listener. I have the S adaptor but never use it. What is the best bang for the buck universal IEM that's a good pair for the AK240?

Of the ones I am familiar I would look at the SE846, Heir Audio 8.0 or the Angie.  These are all $700-1,000 and pair well.  For under that amount you can look at Noble or Westone.  I don't particularly like my Noble 6 pairing but others have commented that the Noble 4 pairs nicely.  There are many other options in the $300-$700 range but I will need to leave that to others as I am unfamiliar with them.

I dont own the AK240 but have tried it a few times with different IEMs. The Shure se846s do sound superb with the DAP and for the build quality and sound are excellent value. I would also consider getting balanced cables to go with the Shures (I like my moon-audio silver dragons)

Unfortunately Sony's built for more consumer side and it does not provide any competitive sound in the selection though the built quality is quite high.  I have AK240 which is really good but to be honest, the sound does not persuade the high price though the sound is impressive considering the size.

All in all, if you go for budge side, sony is only choice because it has been discounted due to emergence of NW-ZX2. But if you afford to buy an AK240 and need to stick with the brand, it is a recommendation to buy AK120 and an external amp because there are not much difference between 120 and 240 in the sounds, the difference of the price being considered. However, IMO, HM-901 is best among the three due to sound if you are able to accept bulky shape and its bad usability which are sources of compromising

Just a heads-up for you guys but AK Jr is out. $550 or so. Looks stunning but the sound is probably less than the 240 obviously. I was hoping it would have optical output like the 240 so that I can use the Chord Hugo with it on the go but it's only got a headphone output. Check it out!

Nice looking unit, but not worth it I'm sure, like every other AK product. I'd wait for Fiio X7 for a little more money. Check out some other players too, Cayin looks promising, new X5ii. I'd wager the new Fiio X3k sounds on par if not better than this.
