Looks like full DSD support is coming for the Zodiac Gold: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f6-dac-digital-analog-conversion/dsd-coming-antelope-zodiac-gold-14906/#post203598
There may come a time when there is a truly good one on the market. As it stands they are either a DAC from a DAC maker with the HP out sort of "thrown in" by comparison, or great HP amps with the DAC "thrown in" (example the V200 with DAC). I think we'll see a one box in the future that can do justice to orthos as long as the ortho trend continues. Someone will properly address the need.
good luck with that
Using Windows 7 x64, J. River Media Center reports the Zodiac ASIO driver does not support 384kHz. Windows Control Panel shows 192kHz max after installing the new driver and updating to Control Panel v3.
Driver shows as 1.61.0.0
J. River reports ASIO Zodiac driver present but it just doesn't playback anything higher than 192kHz.
I have tried setting all different modes in Control Panel:
FS Class1 (obviously won't work)
HS Class1
HS Class2

I sent a trouble ticket in. I use J. River looking to try in a few other players now... This is from the ini file but I can't get the Class 2 setting to do ANY audio playback.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've very much enjoyed the HP amp on the ZG, with the exception of the HE-6 it's done a wonderful job with all my headphones. I do prefer the BA, but it's a BA, which is IMO the best valve amp available today, bar none.
No kidding. I'm absolutely not taking apart my Voltikus (or any other part of the ZG). I'm not that curious or motivated.
