The Altmann Tera Player - Thread

Always been a fan of the tera player. Left the original thread due to annoyances but this thread seems good. Re-listening to the tera with my SE5 and Noble and I remember how much I love this player.

Not the Duo but the latest one which is the Pure II and apparently really good.

IMHO, any amp that you adds in between would likely solve the output impedance matter.  I'm no expert on electronics and just one headfier.

I've been amping the Tera over a year and had very good results.  Apart the Vorzuge has more punches, you may find more low end that you might not have heard when connect the Tera direct.  So, I'd say it has helped to flatten the sound range curve somehow.  You may try with any amp to see if there is any difference.

Cheers

Didn't feel the urge to experiment much with different amp's so purchased the Vorzüge Pure II.
Been playing for several days and indeed solves impedance mismatch, can use my GR10 now.

Music sounds lineair and well controlled over the entire frequency range.
One really hears even more effortless displaying, no more struggle to present bass, it's simply all there.

About the GR10, purchased this ons after regretting selling my previous one some time ago.
Wasn't getting the bass as I remembered it but then found in the GR10 thread that Grado has altered them recently by drilling a hole in the body......
Never noticed that myself but fixed it with some celotape and they are the previous miracles again.

Ehhh, soundwise not much more to wish for but need another wintercoat with bigger pockets now.
Not sure yet how to deal with this next summer... :-)

As I use the Tera when I travel because of its size, I'm almost afraid to hear how much better an amped Tera would be. Oh, here, this should work:

Which one is your pick?

Is good to see that this thread is going strong and people do still enjoy the awesome Tera Player.
Just one complain:
Wish Charles bring down the price so i can buy another one as this is the only music player i am really happy with.

Didn't you have 2 at the old price?

Yeah, hard to believe that the Tera Player had an introductory price of 500 Euros.

Incidentally, Charles will be releasing a couple of Tera Player 'Light' for Christmas 2014 at the old price of 1680 Euros. Details on his website.

So definitely just a matter of price vs demand, Charles just might be reading this thread :-)

Btw, since this project has landed soundwise for me, mine is for sale as well.
I like the sound with an external amp very much but it's too bothersome to my liking, even with efftee's suggestion :-)
Will head in another direction and put it up in the sales department tonight.

Thanks everybody for your kind advices and help and above all thanks Charles for the very same reasons.
It's a great Micro Machine and I wish everybody ultimate joy with the Player and this thread.

Really? You know there is every chance that when sellers remorse kicks in after a few weeks, it could be 6,720 Euro...

Lucky for me, I've not decided to amp my Tera yet. You should get one of these suitcase vest for your Epsilon S Tera haha!

I strap the Tera/Vorzuge with rubber bands and let my belt goes through it and is as handy as ever.  I'll post pics on how I do that later this week.

I know....

But I'm not in it for the cash, in my opinion that stuff has damaged our world far enough.
(ooops, did I just sound like an old hippie?) :-)

Just would like a cost-neutral situation and will enjoy a nice dinner with my son later on today.
We'll see where this ends up, if buyer seems friendly, might throw in the "Kramer modded" Porta Pro as well.
