The Altmann Tera Player - Thread

Hells buttocks!

Surely no one will pay 3360 Euros for a Tera Player?!? It's an insane price.

musicday, I'd spray your Tera Player with black Hammerite paint, then you'll have a stealth player with a pleasing crackled paintwork finish.

I want another Tera player myself, but this time a black Stealth with black screws but not at the current price.

Very disappointed to hear this. Shouldn't have procrastinated - I really want another Tera and should have picked up a Tera Light while Charles was still selling them for Euro 1650.

Feels bad to be the one bringing this news then, it was a quick post and
I was merely happy regarding my own position, sorry...

I suspect this probably is the way to regulate the order-income and
should that be the case, another chance may come up sometime.
I can't imagine many will be sold at this current price anyway, not even the Tera...

But should that really happen, that Tera just might have another face again...

If I lost my Tera I would purchase a new one even at this new insane price. No question about that - because it is my all time favorite device that gives me so much joy every day on my daily commutes to work.
However if I had never heard/owned Tera I would not even look at it at that price (too much risk without knowing what you are getting).

It's just a bit sad that this new exorbitant price will undoubtedly exclude a few potential purchasers. Hopefully it's one of Charles's zany marketing ploys and a more affordable Tera Player (exactly the same version but renamed) will be introduced soon.

Anyone got the Tera Light? Or know with certainty the difference between the original and the light?

I have got the Tera Light.

Have asked Charles specifically before buying if it had the same "bells and whistles" and sound quality as the "original one".
Answer was "okay :-)"

In my opninion it's just regulating order-income and/or interest in building these little wonders.

So there really is just ONE same Tera then. Why don't you post some pics; I'd like to see what that peace sign and other cosmetic differences, if any, are all about.

The Tera's price seems to have ups and downs every once a while. At the current price, I'm not interrested, even tough it's assembled by hand in Germany. My current DAP is the Calyx M and I'm very happy with its sound quality. For outside, I can live with the sound quality of the NWZ-F886, so the new Sony A10 series with good battery life would be ok.
As much as I would love to have a Tera, the price of the M (or P1, or AK100II) is the maximum I currently want to spend for portable audio enlightenment.

Not that i would recommend it, but should one really want to alter the appearance of a Tera, it's probably not that difficult.
By watching the assembling movie, at 5.05 min. both faceplates seem to be mounted permanently, just by screwing them on.
Hence removing all 4 screws and both faceplates, have them powdercoated and mount them again, should not be rocket science.

Just can't figure out which material is used for covering the buttons, one could though simply put a patch of sticky vinyl on top of the existing patch.

But gone will be your warranty.....
