But I'm not in it for the cash, in my opinion that stuff has damaged our world far enough.
(ooops, did I just sound like an old hippie?)

Just would like a cost-neutral situation and will enjoy a nice dinner with my son later on today.
We'll see where this ends up, if buyer seems friendly, might throw in the "Kramer modded" Porta Pro as well.

I own Tera, 901 and RWAK240, and if your like the sound of the Tera amped, the AK240 might not cut it for you as it sounds thinner and more neutral. The 901 with Minibox would be better. And if power is not your priority, Cowon P1 is an option.

mimouille have you tried the tera amped?  Not an accusation but more of a curiosity I could have sworn you said you haven't.

I own a 601 of which I like the open sound sig very much but the thing hisses like crazy, so a no go.
Think I remember reading somewhere this happening more often with this device.
That's why I suggested maybe Hifiman in higher end version as an alternative.
Haven't actually looked into details yet, so didn't know yet about heat, size, battery time, UI, etc.
Kind of a big price to pay for the (probable great) sound sig.
 
Am kind of hesitating to reveil another thing here but will do it anyway, please don't shoot me.
 
After amping the Tera with the Vorzüge II, I A/B-ed this combo numerously with my rockboxed Clip+ in
default sound settings and actually was hardly able to tell the difference, Tera just being a bit more spacious.
Probably my 52 years old ears are giving up on me but then again, if that's my situation....
Clip+ is even smaller, has reasonable battery life and can be EQ-ed nicely to match the GR100 perfectly.
 
But the Tera is still looking at me right now...
Maybe other IEM's after all

Yes must be something wrong with your ears if you compare the Clip+ with Tera, joking only..
Anyway the choice is yours
Do what you like to satisfy your need for good quality sounding player.

I agree - whatever works for people is what they should choose. However let me add that if someone is only running CD resolution files on Tera (and comparing with Clip+ or other cheap alternatives) then the difference will not be as pronounced (but is still noticeable - at least to me). The beauty of Tera is picking up a 192 resolution version of the same album you have previously heard in CD resolution and then pairing that up with great phones (Ref 1 if iem, or Korta Pro for open) - then Tera SQ blows away pretty much anything that's out there, and by large margin as well (in my opinion clearly better than HM901 or AK120 - don't know about AK240 since I never tried it).

Ehhh, my files are 16 bits, 44100 Hz. so CD quality.
Do you mean the Tera converts them by itself or should i need/use other source files?

Even if Tera (or other players could convert them to 192 thats not what you want - because higher resolution means those files have more info - you can't manufacture that info from lower resolution files that never had it in the first place).
You should consider getting a few of these albums (ie buy and download them from HDTracks or some similar site) and take a listen - I think you will be surprised.
However, not every album will sound significantly better in 192 resolution - if you have some favorite albums/genres ask some questions and people will make recommendations.

Okay thx, will try and compare to CD tracks on Clip+ again, maybe there's hope for my old ears after all

Great to hear!  But I'm not surprised - if my 51 year old ears can appreciate the 192 resolution on Tera I figured there was hope for you as well.

I never use it amped but I tried with a friend's RSA 71b.

AK240 with thinner sound would not be my preference, probably especially with my beloved GR10.
901 interest in the fridge, it's Tera all over the place now

Just out of curiousity tried this res. on another DAP as well but Tera win's by miles.

Don't worry about that - HDTracks will be happy to sell you thousands of dollars worth of 192 resolution files! The trick is to figure out which are really great and stand out from CD's - there is certainly a lot of outstanding stuff there but you need to do some research before you buy.
If you need some hints on what to buy here is a good place to get suggestions (they announce new releases each week and there is conversation about recommended releases, small reviews, etc).
