AKG K612PRO looks interesting. I bet it's as warm sounding as an HD-600.
AKG should also release a K412PRO

I like the K400 with 65th pads more than the Q701 with 65th pads. Stock K400 is definitely not better than the Q701 to my ears..

What's funny is that the K400 with 65th pads is actually warmer/bassier than the Annie. Weird I know! If you use the Q701s driver foam it's TOO warm!

EDIT: I think it may have to do with the fact that the K400 has less treble than the Q701.

I heard the K601 was warmer than the 70x. I wonder how much warmer it is over the Annie/712 Pro, since going by the Annie, is already on the warm side of neutral...

And I wonder if the new K612 will have memory foam, making them even warmer...

I'm a little late, but the K601 has more mid-bass than the K702 and is much warmer than the K702 and has smoother treble.
The K601 is a lot better for rock music than the K702 for sure, but I don't listen to much of that. Stuff like Primus and Pearl Jam sounds good on the K601. Even Radiohead.

The Q701 is definitely warmer than the K601 though, but there still seems to be more mid-bass on the K601, but less treble. It's kind of hard to describe and this probably makes no sense.

The K601's mids seem more neutral than those of the Q701.

My guess is that the K612Pro will be as warm as that of an HD-600 maybe.

I no longer have a K601 since I swapped it for a K400.

It's really confusing how bassy and warm the K400 can get with those 65th pads. I'm loving it right now..

EDIT: BTW I hope they don't phase out the Q701 or the stock K702 pads. I still think the Q701 sounds better than the 65th anniversary. Not everyone will and it depends on preferences.

Need an endorsement for that kind of bling. Let's call it

LW715 Royal Diamond Edition

(with built in noise cancellation)

Let's just hope his 'music' career ends before AKG reads this thread.

Damn, I am sooo hyped up for those K612s, I really wanna hear them ASAP. Ive actually been looking for a headphone to complement my  K701s, when I would like to listen to something that needs more punch.

Out of the headphones discussed here, I have only heard the K601, K701 (newer version) and Q701. It is funny reading how the Q701 is considered warmer and bassier (im not sayign its not), because they sounded exactly the same when I heard them. Now i suppose its because they were new and just unboxed for me at the store.

However, the K601 indeed has more mid-bass and i think its slightly more relaxed its older cousins. Could serve as a good Rock 'n Roll headphone. While the K701 is good for classic rock, its not so good for the more lively stuff.

I actually really love the orange/black color scheme on the K712. I know it pulls away from the seriousness of the can, but how many black and silver cans does everyone really need to own?

Orange? The pictures make it look more like a copper coat.

I'm disappointed the neon green color is being faded out.

Sarcasm or genuine?

The Neon Green is so slick. Its nice to see makers trying other things then the typical colors we always see. I hope they keep in in rotation in whats probably going to be a Q712 3 months after the k712 release :)

Thanks,

Not sure if you knew this, but the Q712 would basically be a K712.

Q701 with 65th pads is 100% identical in sound to the K702 65th Anniversary.
Maybe 2-3 people have verified this, but I don't really know yet...

I really really wish someone could measure lots of different AKG headphones with memory foam pads.
