K712 with the CMA400i they are the best ive ever heard them sound but i cant listen for a long time like i can with HD650, they would be better suited for gaming or movies and Senns for music.

My experience with the two are quite different as I can't listen for long with the HD650 before I get bored and change them for something else. There's one exception though: acoustic music with male vocals with this they're one of (if not the) best headphones that I own and that's why they deserve their spot in my collection.

The K712 I can enjoy for hours with pretty much any music.

These different preferences is a big part of what makes this hobby so interesting to me.

I actually like the 612 pads more with 712, their original gel pads take away from the sound imo.

Are the 612 pads unique or the same as some 7xx models?

I forgot to say in my earlier post that I've always been a sucker for a wide and airy presentation.

I think they are the same, just standard foam velour, initially i did it because my 612 pads were well worn and way more comfortable so when i switched back k712 gel pads the sound was a little muddy.

Ok, thanks! The reason that I got the K712 was that I found the pads to cause discomfort in longer listening sessions with my Qs so I'd guess that I'm better off with the stock pads then.

Hey,

Would these headphones work with Little Dot MK III? I'm currently driving these with DAC X6 and they are not good.

The FXAudio X6?

They sound very similar across all sources ive tried so you might not like them then. How long have you had them for? if its been a few days its not fair chance to make your mind up, force yourself stick with them for a couple of weeks at least. This applies to all new headphones.

I used to have the FX X6, from my experience with the K712's they sound very similar with most stuff and in my opinion hard to pair and need plenty of current (class a?), maybe is just not my sound signature, they sound a bit thin in my opinion.

They soak up a lot of power from the CMA400i and the K612 more so, it was the HD650s that ended up being sensitive to volume on that amp.
