The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread

Noticed this too a few days ago, was surprised not to see any talk on it.. Hope it's not a K722 or something, as I just got my 712 the other week! :p

Also, anyone find an improvement using angled pads or simply angling the stock pads with the 712?
I see the k701, etc, seem to have angled pads and I remember reading the 712 has a slightly more realistic or "smaller" soundstage, and from running about angled vs non-angled (and all the off-topic in-between) ut seems several people say that the angle helps with the soundstage.

K712 pads produce a more focused sound than the angled pads on K702.

Don't really know what Harman/AKG is planning, but the AKG K712 is an extremely good headphone anyway.

Fair!
I agree, I don't plan to let these go and am very happy with them. I would just hate to see a new "improved" similarly priced model so soon after buying.

Kinda like how the HD 599 came out shortly after I got the 598, but I'm past that now.

Based on Harman/AKG K7-series history, if they release a new model it would cost 479usd or so at first...
Then 350usd one year later, then 300usd and down to 250usd if they last long enough.

Anyway, I'm not sure they will bring something new this time. I guess we'll have to wait.
Not sure if someone at (Samsung)HarmanAKG cares about a K7-variant made in the EU these days.

AKG K712 Pro and K701 are discontinued. R.I.P.

I am only about 20 hours into my K712 Pro and find them completely excellent. Let's hope that the replacement, whatever it is, is even better.

Yup, got mine a few days ago aswell, and honestly it doesnt bother me if they replace it with a newer/better version, i'm pretty damn happy with it. Rather spend more money on a good Amp than look for getting a replacement/upgrade to the K712 :)

Also, can anyone recommend me a good stand for the K702's? The Omega is available where I live, is it a good choice?

I'm glad I gave them another shot before it was too late.
The second pair I got works effortlessly even with my modest audioengine D1. I don't know what made the first pair sound so harsh.
Now I get why they're so well regarded. The X2 are no longer needed now.

I've sold mine K712 last week because compared to the HD 600 or HD 800 I found that K712 is not clean sounding. Compared to the HD 600, K712 have better separations and better soundstage but I miss that clean voices from HD 600. I don't know how to describe it but K712 is a bit "plasticky sounding" compared to the HD 600 or even to the old K500 or K400. My next headphones will be probably HD 800 with Anax mod or HD 800S. I want that great soundstage and separations from K712 but with super clean sound and with more details.
