So I gave these what I hoped was a somewhat fair shot (also burned in playing music over a few nights at 30-40% for 'burn in'), but the sound signature just doesn't do it for me.
Comfort, fit and price were all excellent. Unfortunately the muddy and bloated bass/mid-bass bleed well into the lower mids and distort the music that I normally listen to (trance/dance/electronica). They do sound fairly good on less busy music and lighter classical pieces. It is a smooth sound, extraordinarily warm and just too much for me. I had to max out the EQ I use (10-band 12db) in a few spots on them just to make them somewhat acceptable to me. I don't know if maybe I got a bad pair or the drivers are from a different source... but I couldn't take it and went back to my SE215's for now.
Perhaps I should go from a dynamic to a BA. I think I prefer a neutral, mild v, u-shaped or maybe even an analytical one. This was too 'L' shaped for me. Time to experiment I guess, I have 2 more different earphones on the way.
