Tennmak

So I gave these what I hoped was a somewhat fair shot (also burned in playing music over a few nights at 30-40% for 'burn in'), but the sound signature just doesn't do it for me.

Comfort, fit and price were all excellent. Unfortunately the muddy and bloated bass/mid-bass bleed well into the lower mids and distort the music that I normally listen to (trance/dance/electronica). They do sound fairly good on less busy music and lighter classical pieces. It is a smooth sound, extraordinarily warm and just too much for me. I had to max out the EQ I use (10-band 12db) in a few spots on them just to make them somewhat acceptable to me. I don't know if maybe I got a bad pair or the drivers are from a different source... but I couldn't take it and went back to my SE215's for now.

Perhaps I should go from a dynamic to a BA. I think I prefer a neutral, mild v, u-shaped or maybe even an analytical one. This was too 'L' shaped for me. Time to experiment I guess, I have 2 more different earphones on the way.

hi,

i'm interested in tennmak pro (as by now they're sold on aliexpress < eur 12,- without cable) - i'd really like that shure-style, most iem from kz are too big for ears. can you still recommend them in 2019? (compared to new kz/cca models - and i think their technique is some years "old"...)

I guess it depends on what type of sound signature you like. Tennmak is IMHO a bit dark and muffled, mainly in comparison with hybrid earphones. I prefer clear sound with crisp highs provided by balanced armature drivers. I use ASY hybrid earphones more than Tennmak's. Both have almost the same form factor. If you prefer darker sound or you're sensitive to sibilance, Tennmak is a good choice.
