Around 2013 (Mixmag John.B Trance N Bass CD in my case amongst others) there was a gradual shift into a more aggressive, extended treble.

The "House-Sound" of labels like 31 may be a legacy of when big clubs spent *crazy* money on new soundsystems, and when DnB had to compete with other electronic music to pull those crowds in.:thinking:
Yes, your arguments make sense. Now that I think about it, it’s mostly stuff around 2012 where I notice it the most. And they probably mix/master their tracks for soundsystem use instead of headphones, where it doesn’t sound as piercing.. and at the same time sound more ‘exciting’. One usually hears more details in the high frequencies on headphones as well. So i’ll just stick to EQ-usage in these cases.
