Much appreciated. Would you say that it competes with dedicated DAPs? I'm just looking to justify the price, I would be only using IEMs and am curious if it has enough push.
DAP.. I dont appreciate as much. The cheaper daps to me are just trash. Bad UI, bad sound. You better be going for dongles with your phone. If you have the budget, take a look at xduoo link2 bal, paw s2, dacport, cayin ru6. Those performance are closer to the higher end daps. Meanwhile, stargate is the best "use and forget" kind of dongle due its footprint and sound quality.

Hello folks, I have just posted my review of Tanchjim OLA. I must say I was utterly surprised by the vivid sound it provides, and I am currently head over heels in love with it. Here is my review:

And here is a shot of it:

Lately, I've been hearing a rumor that the new Oxygen is different from the old Oxygen (new ones being bassier), and just happened to me to spot those pics from Oxygen's internals:

This one was recently shared by redrol:

The back of the driver and its tuning material looks very different to me, is there any confirmation that the driver swap is real by Tanchjim?
Guess that they won't admit it?

I believe i've mentioned this before, but here it is again: HBB said that the OEM factory stated that Tanchjim has used several driver iterations over the years for the O2. The very first O2 had i believe 2 solder pads on the driver, while later years/generations had multiple solder pads (but only 2 used as single DD; the rest would've been used if the driver were used in a hybrid). I used to have the later generation O2 (presumably, since I bought it Nov 2021), and it may have been warmer than the first generation. I don't have mine graphed so can't support with quantitative evidence, just FYI.

Are the differences between each iteration very noticeable? Is it still worth it to get one now?

Because I've got one heading my way, and still am deciding whether to keep or return it.

Only @paulwasabii has listened to both. He has actually graphed two different O2 generations (presumed generations; just going by the date of purchase). IMO, my O2 was warm, and it had a lovely note-weight. Since you have one coming, you should just try it and see. Do be wary of the fit - you'll need to tip roll. I used kbear07 and got a good seal.

I think it is less noticeable than it graphs due to the averages but I don't think anyone has a choice now, you will listen to it and either keep it or return it. There is no option to buy an older generation. Olina with Tanya dampers is right there as well.

Ended up purchasing the Stargate, great product, I posted some brief impressions on the discovery thread. Seriously consider grabbing it if you're an iOS user. Just a heads up, it wasn't compatible with my iPod Touch 5th gen but it is with my iPhone 7.

Question to people who've heard Tanchjim and Moondrop IEMs: can you rank Aria, Blessing 2, Ola and other Tanchjim products in order of their sibilance or overall treble brightness (relative to the midrange, not to the bass)? I have an Aria, and I find it too sibilant; am wondering if Tanchjim is for me.

In terms of sibilance/brightness: OLA > Oxygen > Aria 2021 > Tanya.

I don't have the Blessing 2 with me now, so can't do A/B comparisons, but the above is from A/B testing.
