Takstar HF 580 Planar Headphones

What's the difference with the iNeedKit vs. Aiva on the midrange and treble?

Oh, and does the former fit perfectly or I need to tape it? TIA
The iNeed Kit fit well, no need for taping. The Aiva are quite loose, check them every time you put on your cans. Maybe I will use some tape. Mids & treble not much difference, have to do more tests. Maybe I will get some sheepskins after all, but not the Monoprice ones. Maybe these:

They are round with 100mm diameter and the Takstars are oval with 90/110 mm diameter. The openings for the ears are identical to the iNeed Kit ones however. That's good.

Keep us posted when you found the "perfect" ones.:gs1000smile:

If you are not satisfied with the Takstar plus the Aiva pads or iNeed Kit maybe you can do some outside mods like add some extra material to the plastic covers to give them the "wooden touch" and remove the "resonances". I'm very happy with my cans now, have two of them, one with the Aiva pads which sit a bit loose and the iNeed Kit ones. No need for further mods. I'll order some sheepskin pads just for fun soon. Waiting for the 11/11 bonus on Ali. Who knows? Good luck with your mods everyone.

I did order these:

It's in Dutch... but ok. These come very close to my beloved (expensive) LCD-XC planar headphones.

Good earpads might improve these cans so much more! Unbelievable what 's possible with them. I love them on my LD-MK2 almost as much as my Stax headphone. On my Stax I use the same earpads also.

108 mm and round seem a bit big for the Takstar. Can you show some photos how they sit on your HF580s? Thanks. The Aiva pads are quite loose and I have to be careful not to remove them accidentially.

They do fit very well. I used transparant tape to stick the earpads around the outside of the ear caps / drivers

You need to close the air inside the earpads to get the best bass response. So don't use the plastic rings!

Mine sounds like an Audeze LCD-x now on my Little Dot MK2.

Aiva pads I did not order and try. I like the smooth leather of the Audeze style earpads. So the monolith earpads are (till now) the best I've got.

These earpads on my Stax make them insane..... But yeah. Stax basic construction sucks big time! So you need to get rid of the plastic bull of Stax....

Also on a very cheap Superlux HD-330. These earpads do improve them a lot! Strange but very true! So... My conclusion is that the quality of headphones are mayor dependant on the earpads.

So replace them and try different earpads to get your best quality of comfort and sound.

My experience is that those earpads works best on open headphones.....like the Takstar, Stax, Superlux.

On the closed models you get another impression on details of sound stage. It will wide up but losing details. A bit of 'hollow sound' might occur. I had this with the Blon B8 headphone made of wood.....

I sealed my iNeed kit pads with tape but hear no difference. Apparently the seal is already very good without extra sealing. Will order the Monoprice sheepskins tomorrow. That will be all the mods I try. Cheers.
