I can afford D2000s by the way. I heard good things about them so I came hear to ask, which one?

From what I've read, the T50RPs are phenomenal headphones if you're willing to mod them (as in better than D2000). If we're talking purely stock (which, I'm not sure why you'd want a stock T50RP...), it sounds like the D2000 would be better based on the impressions I've read.

Heya,

T50RP out of the box is all mids, very shy on bass and impact, and has damp treble. It's actually not great sounding. It's ok, if you love mids and nothing else though.
D2000 out of the box is flat, neutral, does everything well, and has amazing extension. It's also very comfortable and stylish.

If you're going to go the route of Thunderpants mods, get the T50RP. If you're not, get the D2000 without hesitation.

Very best,

This....

The T50RP's out of the box sound ok. Not bad but not good either. If judging strictly from stock, the D2000's will definitely beat the T50RP's IMHO.

However, if you mod the T50RP's you can elevate them to a level where they can compete with the best headphones out there. I vastly prefer my Paradox headphones to my HP-2's and many other high end headphones both in terms of sound quality and comfort.

If you don't want to spend the time modding the Fostex headphones, then get the D2000's. If you have the time to mod them or the money to pay someone to mod them or Thunderpants them, then go with the Fostex.

Yes, you can buy a DIY kit from Smeggy. You can always attempt to turn your own cups and modify them yourself. See the T50RP thread for various mods people have done.

To the OP, if you're OK modding headphones, you could also consider getting the D2000 and modding them into open-backed headphones. ;) They are, simply put, fantastic. They go well above the stock D2000 in overall sound quality.

I also have the T50RP on the way, which I plan to mod. I don't know when they'll be in, but I'll definitely be comparing them to my open D2000s once I get them in and modded.
