Supreme Sound (Burson) Audio Lycan Headamp

I had not seen Innerfidelity's Holiday Guide until now. Aside from Bob Katz's debatable comments on the volume control, his thoughts about the Lycan's sound are consistent with my observations. And although the Lycan's is price at $249 makes it a great stocking stuffer, its really a serious longterm investment into having an amplifier/pre-amplifer with unadulterated, transparent, and accurate sound. With the Sennheiser and HD-600 and Etymōtic ER•4S you will have a even-keeled setup that will give you a lens right into the music. That should be a fine setup and I think you'll enjoy it.

Sentences in bold.. I like :-)

Does anyone have any experience how well the Lycan drives Sennheiser HD800?

Yes, I am using the Lycan to drive my Sennheiser HD-800 headphones almost exclusively. The Lycan is well matched to the HD-800 and I've observed that the V5 opamp is not harsh and it also adds the level of refinement/smoothness that the HD-800 requires.

Deadly words to my wallet.
Have the Lycan, love it with V5, works well with my HD650. I'm hoping it will do well with my HE400i.
Unfortunately my HD650 has channel unbalance, so I pretty much have to use it with a headphone amp with a balance adjuster.

The Lycan is one heck of a bargain.  It has been able to drive most any headphone I have thrown at it including my HE6.  The only downside is  you really do need a variable gain out from your DAC otherwise its input gets overstaturated and you have no volume control range.

+1 I agree 100 percent, I have used the Lycan to drive all of my headphones, from my HE1K to ATH M50X, and all sounded very good. Also the Lycan is very portable, and can easily be thrown into a suitcase, for some late night jamming, in the old hotel room.:)

Today, I received the Lycan with 2x single V5 opamps.  Delivered in 2-3 days from AUS to US!  It was a demo model, although it complete looks NIB. Anyhow, lets assume it is a demo model that had gone through some more or less significant run in time!

So after a few hours of letting it settling in with my Geek Pulse and without going into any detailed description at this early stage of ownership!  I actually have two Geek Pulse's so I could relatively quickly compare the Geek Pulse HO vs. Geek Pulse/Lycan using a switch box and nits volume matched.  I don't believe the Geek Pulse DAC/AMP is a slouch in any way compared to what I heard/owned before, actually really good!

Adding the Lycan to the Geek Pulse, using my HD600 and Ety 4 ER-S. I could Immediately differentiate that the Lycan really opened up their sound stage and at the same time balance low/mid/high frequencies better than when using the Geek Pulse HO, more so with the HD600 than the Ety 4.

Again, so far I'm very impressed and certainly better than I expected!

Good choice. I have the Lycan and Liquid Carbon off my Pulse Infinity.

How do you experience the Pulse infinity HO vs. Lycan?

The more time, just hours, I have spend tonight and once or trice going back comparing with the Geek Pulse HO. The Lycan shines/improves with my favorite, more or less, neutral headphones/IEMS's
