This looks very interesting! Ive been wanting a Burson Soloist SL for a while but the price always held me back.. You guys think the lycan would have the same sound signature as i read ( warm sounding , wide soundstage, rich sound etc) ?

And whats the difference between 2x single ss opamp and 1x dual ss opamp ?

Interesting question,  I actually asked that same question today with Alex from SSA and here was his response:

"One dual is better if you use other IC or discrete op amps. So that there is no mismatch between the 2 models.  If you are going to use our Supreme Sound Op-Amps then it does not matter as we match our Op-Amps extensively to ensure channel balance."

I should also add that Alex mentioned you can't use them both simultaneously (single ended and dual).  One or the other though I don't know what would happened if you did.  I don't want to find out

I actually ordered the dual SSA version this afternoon.

I have 4 of their single discrete opamps from another project so I will be interested in seeing how they sound in the Lycan.

i like the idea of opamp rolling here (why let all the tube amp people have all the fun I mean

).

But the SS-opamp they sell are expensive  when compared to chip opamp. Can anyone comment on how they sound like? Are they worth the money?

I was surprised to see there was no info on the new Lycan on Head-Fi yet. This is a unit I find very interesting as a reviewer and I hope to listen to one soon.

I'm sure, knowing Burson, this will be a quality device. And it's pretty cheap too (IMO)

If I can manage to get one, I'll for sure review it. Let's all share our impressions and findings in this thread.

Hi, while Supreme Sound Audio is indeed a subsidiary of Burson Audio we'll comment on Supreme Sound as Burson. Information about the Lycan can be found on SSA's website. We're hoping a number of DIYers and devoted audiophiles will want to actually hear the sound of op-amps compared to discrete circuits. It's also a powerful headphone amplifier in its own right and drives all the headphones at Burson and SSA's HQ without difficulty.
Thanks for your interest.

can this little amp drive the Audeze LCD2?

Easily, the power supply is a full 24 watts but it's throttled down to 2 so it's ultra-stable and can handle almost every headphone you can imagine. You can hear the difference between commercial op-amps made for computers and discrete op-amps tailored for audio... it's like a stethocope into the heart of your system!
